Just a buckle

Found this sterling buckle in my yard today.... Anyone know how to tell how old it could be?

The sterling stamping started sometime around 1870s, so that provides a cut off date. The style of the monogram and design points more towards early/mid 1900s in my opinion. Maybe someone else here knows more and can narrow it down better.

Pretty sure that is a hickok buckle.

If I had to guess on age, 1910-1940? I'm no expert though...

Just don't see the Hickok marking on it anywhere.... Sterling on the main part & nickel plate on the loop part with patent number.

Some had the Hickok mark, and some did not. Some were marked Hickok, and not STERLING too.That might actually help date it, if you do a little more sleuthing work on Hickok.

Always fun finding sterling buckles. Congrats on yours. I would say 30's-50's era.
