Pretty impressive. I'm thinking about quitting my job and metal detecting professionally full-time.

Well.....GL with all that. But here's my personal view and experience. I have subscribed to quite a few MD'ING channels. As soon as they think and act like they want to be a star with clickbaits , paid promos and doing endless shorts that pop up in my feed , I unsubscribe. So for me and the like , it backfires on them because they try too hard on that pipe dream side hustle.

That right there is funny. I always wondered how much people made. I guess you get more for regular videos and likes and subscribes and comments. But.....

70 cents for over 22k views? HAHAHAAAA! I make more than that in 3 hours at the beach with my detector. Oh...wait...

I use several Ad Blocking Add-Ons/Extensions, and Firefox(heavily customized) for my browser. I mainly use my computer for internet stuff. UMatrix and Ublock Origin are my two main Extensions for Firefox. Just do a web search for, "How to Block Youtube Ads", and you should find plenty of videos/articles on how to go about doing that. I also use these same add-ons on my Samsung/Android phone, so I get no commercials on there as well. I'll have to warn you, it can be a bit of work to get everything up and running, but it is worth it. I'm not sure if Umatrix is even available anymore, but, with it, I can Allow/Block individual aspects of a page; Cookies, Images, Scripts, Frames, etc. I can't stand Ad's and avoid them as much as possible. Good luck with getting rid of your Ad's!

May I ask how you do that? The ads are a real PIA...
I wouldn't mind the ads so much if they wouldn't obstruct the video or worst of all, interrupt mid sentence. I would complain to the companies being advertised, but unfortunately, they don't pay attention to the complaint, they just record it as a view that someone remembers. To them, there is no difference between "I saw an ad for Gloppo" and "A Gloppo ad interrupted my video, and I wouldn't feed it to my worst enemy, and every store that sells it stinks to high heaven".

Years ago they paid better and a simple formula something like $7.00 per 1,000 views. Back then you would have made about $161.00. But now the link the payment to viewed ads, which is a much lower paying metric.

Yes I think this is where sensationalized headlines and click bait came from. The amount of clicks it takes to make money went up.
That's why Nude Gardening and other YT videos get made, just to get viewers because of the sensationalism, not the content.

One of the things they make money with is putting the ads in irritating places (in the middle of a sentence) so that in order to preserve your sanity, you have to pay the blackma...er...subscribe to the ad-free service at a cost.

Don't be evil...unless it pays.
