Garrett Ace 250 ; wrong signals

I've got my Garrett ace 250 10 years ago.
Now he's acting very strange,
when he's giving a signal and I go checking it and turn again above the place where there was a signal, then he doesn't react anymore. He react sometimes also when he's lying down.
I've tried to adjust the sensitivity and different modes but it's not working.
Does anyone know what to do about it?

I don't have a troubleshooting list but:

1) Check batteries
2) Check all connections
3) Look for signs for cracked broken wires.
4) Think back, have you ever dropped this guy or got him wet?
5) Do the factory reset. See manual if you had not done this with holding power on button until you here a beep.
