For 100FTY I needed 3 coins...1879-O Morgan was one

Whoa! Holy faaaack! Congrats on reaching 100 silvers FTY and one of them being an old Morgan! I'd be cussing up a storm too.

Thanks a lot Wave! Are you speaking English again? I was speaking something, not sure what it was....had to edit a lot of it out....
“Holy faaaaack” was about right!

Nice coins, especially the Morgan. My first Morgan was an 1879 but not an "O".

Thanks a lot Cladman! Your FIRST? You have more than one also? It’s SO rare to find one it’s a wonder it’s done at all. But coinage back then is what they used! And just as we do today, they lost it. Being as that you dug a bazillion coins this weekend, you probably knew that!
All I can say is,”On to the next!”

Again Awesome, my ears burneth from the profanity

Congrats again.

Thanks for a hell of a great site Craig. We have much work to do there for a long time. “Burneth” doesn’t pass my spellcheck though,so I need the Ye Olde Englishe update....
Congrats right back on a REALLY sweet coin,it’s amazing they can sit in the ground THAT LONG and still come out looking like that...

Wow that is awesome!! I remember the first morgan, wasn't that the " never dig a signal like this" video? it was awesome to see your reaction then too! I had to send my dogs into a different room before watching, the husky talks and I didn't want her to learn any colorful words!:lol::laughing: Congrats !!

Wow! Great hunt, awesome that you caught it on film too, Big Congrats!
A great spot to hunt, some good friends to share the excitement and a Morgan dollar....... Priceless man!

Great fun by all. You called it when I left to return to the spot I was hunting. You said something about digging a dollar even before you found it.

 Yep that’s the one! This time the signal was way more decipherable (that’s gotta be a coin!) but it goes to show that digging a “range “ is the way to go.
Of course, where we were this time can hold about anything so the range has to get even bigger! This Morgan reads 11-41 in air at 6-8” away,11-42 closer. At no time does it go to 12-43,which is what this one read in the ground at 6-7”.
A talking dog? That’s trouble if I ever heard of it!
Thanks Remmy!

Thanks Ron! I agree, hunting with other people has benefits. The biggest for me is that I’m driven more to do well, everyone wants to find something. It obviously doesn’t always work out that way but lately our crew has been knocking it out of the park! I enjoy seeing others success too,as it solidifies their involvement in the hobby and creates a sense that they can do well to.
Very much priceless,I’ll never forget it....

Yeah but I failed on that one,I said “Seated”! Even so,to say that and then actually find one was bizarre to say the least. If I’d said I would find a quarter, well then that’s way more achievable. A dollar is not! And to find it in such good condition, yet so old? It’s still hard to grasp...it is SO nice it belongs in a coin shop display! That’s what makes this hobby so fun,you just never know.
Thanks again for solving the camera mystery,I was pretty worried for a bit when I couldn’t find it!

That Morgan is an exceptionally nice find IDX, congrats! Had a look on coin study.com, and realised had it been an 1879-CC it would've been worth $100+. Still, an excellent find! :)

Thanks Groper! It would’ve been just WAY too good for it to be EVERYTHING I dreamed of so I’ll just be happy with an “O” this time! You would !!!! if you saw this thing in person,I’m SO happy I didn’t wreck it with the shovel. I’m also happy that Wayne didn’t actually fire it into the woods!

I've actually been fortunate to dig THREE of them. The 1879 was the first and it took me 8 years to find it, The second was a 1922 Peace dollar that came 22 years after the 1879 and one year later I dug an 1898. Good luck with your search for the "next one".

So you’ve been detecting awhile then? 3 is quite a feat!

Yes, I've been detecting since 1983. These are the morgans I dug but I can't find the pic of the Peace Dollar.
