Fisher Impulse AQ detector update

I agree. But human nature being-what-it-is : We md'rs seem drawn to always become starry-eyed and want to believe there's a better mouse-trap out there.

And why is it that most of the "starry-eyed" videos (and new-fangled inventions claiming amazing feats) seem to be coming out of Europe ? (Specifically Russian countries).

As for the amazing videos that circulate, well SO TOO could I make an "amazing video" , if I only used one of Minelab's GPX or GPZ machines. Then I too could show you a video where a quarter could be picked up nearly 2 foot deep ! Woohoo! Who can argue with depth like that, eh ? :?: The worked-out-parks would "come alive again", eh ? :?:

Yet as we all know, the devil would be in the details. There is no way you'd take that machine to the average park, school, beach, or ghost town. You would get a quick dose of reality. And You would quickly put it on the shelf, and reach for your standard discriminator or beach machine. Doh !

Exactly Tom... I keep hearing about the 7 uS that won't work up here... I can't even get a smooth threshold trying it at 10 so that selling point is moot...

Closing the beaches

Before the crowded season is the kicker for me, as you all know I am an occasional hunter, since they chose to do this in Md & De before the crowds makes no since, can't even take the dog to the beach let alone use the detector's I have, just this alone puts the AQ dead in the water , if it would have only came out sooner , I would have had one , NOW makes no since in reality times , even in the fall , beaches closed NO depositors , for all people able to hunt on thier beaches have fun :jail::pullhair:

I don’t know Tom... things are a changing. How many single freqs do you know that works in the salt water? The MDT does. If the Fisher does worked as promised... would it not be a better mouse trap? I understand.... just because it may have the ability to use 7uS doesn’t mean it can be used. Hey but some places maybe able to. Like the CTX... could take some time to sell its self. Obviously those wanting a lot of recognition will be posting first. I’d keep an eye on the ones not posting much .... and PM them

Hey C - where does this info come from? No one in your area has ever had an AQ - I just wonder about the statement...

Huh ? What does this mean ?

Are you inferring that a successful better mousetrap would have the recipients staying "hush hush " ? If so, that's not the way it works. Word of all better evolutions of metal detectors have ALWAYS been quick to spread. Show & tell and hobbyist/tech chitchat is par for the course of our hobby. And if there WERE a better mousetrap, then people would be quick to use it and talk. So .... I'm not sure what you are referring to. Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you ?

Because using 10 uS is unstable up here...

Partially true Tom. Bragging about your latest and greatest is one thing. Posting all your finds constantly is another. Have you ever seen me post a find ?

Hey there Kob, The fact that some guys don't show & tell, nor-exchange any high-5's, and might be loners and hunt-all-alone, does NOT mean: "Therefore, a new better mousetrap will-stay-secret with these elusive shadowy hunters".

There is no connection of logic there.

It's the same logic the LRL dowser crowd falls back on, when their "lack of finds" is presented as proof that their devices don't work. They will use the same logic that : "We find treasure all the time. But we just stay 'hush-hush since it's giant treasures. Eg.: Don't want to subject ourselves to the scrutiny of the IRS, and don't want our homes to be subject to thieves. But rest-assured: We're finding big ticket treasures". Eh ?

I say this with all due respect, because I enjoy your forum inputs.

Mr. C

One PI detector and another are not the same.

Seriously, the threshold on the AQ is way smoother than even my last TDI with all of Reg Sniff’s mods,

Eventually you will see - till then, not much to discuss. Seriously, not all detectors are equal - a PI that can only manage 10 μs minimum delay at your place doesn’t mean that no detector will ever do that.

But of course, till serious folks have one - we won’t know.

Whatever you say Rick... Maybe we will see it and maybe we won't but i certainly don't expect it anytime soon... Who is roll out a $2500 detector with the entire world economy tanking....

I agree 100 % with what you say Tom. But what I'm saying cannot be ruled out. It's to each his own if they choose to display or show their finds. I love seeing finds on here and value your input as well ( permission topics excluded ). I'm not there yet. I know of a few old timers still alive , that will never post anything about anything. Though I know many of their stories and have seen many of the finds.

Sure. There are persons on the "ugly side of 50" that just never got into 'puters and social media. I used to hunt with a fellow like that, who has a collection that boggles the mind (over 300 phoenix buttons, for example). Yet you will not see any show & tell from him on any forums (I'm not even sure if he's even still detecting these days).

But back in his day, he did indeed share his trophies with a close few select friends. And if he had discovered a "better mousetrap" detector , it would indeed have been knowledge to those around him.

I've been through the evolution of BFO's to TR all-metal, to TR-disc, to motion disc, to TID, to FBS, and everything inbetween. I've seen all their evolutions. And trust me: Any new mousetrap , that improved the scene, did NOT remain a secret for long. Not just between fellow hobbyists, but the manufacturer themselves, hoping for the "world to beat a path to their door" (the evil profit motive) would turn over heaven and earth to advertise their product, and "get the word out". For if they thought they had a better mousetrap.

Thus ... sorry .... I'm not buying your logic.

Mr. C - you are right about the roll out. The mayor or El Paso ordered the shut down of all non-essential businesses. I don’t know what effect this will have on the AQ, but with beach closures all over, it can’t help.

Guess I was getting off topic again ! Regarding about detectors , it's true. Secrets of detectors only last so long before they get out.
The finds and postings , oldtimers is for another post !

I know Tom we LOVE to brag when we get a new toy. Im saying watch the guys who may get one of the 100 machines....... like Joe. With a limited run just like the MDT....... it gets a little quiet. Some will right away want that pat on the back...... others of course will want to bash it. There will be a group you want to hear from..... that may not say a lot especially know there aint many out there yet. This machine wont be for all beach hunter....... price, being a PI, and its not a multi use machine like the Nox which most may stick to. Ive got my fingers crossed its everything its praised to be. Thou ..... ive still not seen a convincing video showing the depth or 7uS...... or what it sounds like in the salt water chest deep. I cant say what it will or wont do....... why because we really havent seen a machine that has made these claims before...... so it could well be a better mouse trap. At this point..... it wont do me any good until i can get on a beach LEGALLY. I look forward to videos from people like Joe and his little testing...... but im not sure hes going to brag it up with a lot of finds.

The Mayor of El Paso issued a shutdown order of all “non-essential” businesses. First Texas Products - “FTP” (Fisher, Teknetics, Bounty Hunter) is in El Paso. A letter issued by the President of FTP, Tom Walsh.

So it looks like the factory will continue activities for industrial and security products, but the Treasere/Hobby lines will not be open. Working from home, administrative and customer service functions will continue. Interestingly enough FTP has a lot of experience with working remotely. Their two most senior marketing folks as well as their chief engineer work primarialy from their respective homes in Colorado, Wisconsin and Oregon,

Exactly my point Dew. I personally only show a few close people SOME of my finds. Never all , nor do I talk about all of them. I gotta think Joe is a little the same. Though he shows and scores alot , do I think he shows or talks about all ? My guess is No ! Keeping sites a secret is the most important. But for me , most So.Cal sites are well known anyway. So it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. This new detector will , if ever , be a tough sell. Even the hardcore guys will have to ask themselves : How often do I hunt ? Is there a feasible chance where I hunt to recover the cost ? How long could it take ? Competition ? And finally , Is it really worth it over what I already have and been successful at ?

SM, Are you always so pessimistic - or is it just when it suits you to knock something. President Trump wants us all back to work by Easter. Even if that turns out to be a dream, I expect more or less normal commercial activity to be back by mid summer. If that doesn't happen, we will have WAY more to worry about than metal detectors!!

The order processing function continues, so if they decide to launch the AQ, they have the first batch on-hand already. LE.JAG said 100, I heard a lower number, but they are there.
