Fisher Impulse AQ detector update

Ugh..... Carl M has been wrong twice now. this thing really is turning into the pulse devil. Im getting out of the mood... the thing that would put me over is someone like ML talking about a new machine with potential. Tom D still dont have one.....and it seems hes been contacted by everyone of importance he will get one. So ... i foresee that 6 mos becoming a reality.... provide Tom D dont get one and find more problems for um. Im just going to go have a seat and let this one go.....

I have no information as to whether Tom D got one or not. If he didn’t (and I suppose that is the case), it was likely for the same reason that mine was requested to be returned. They didn’t want non-conforming hardware “out in the wild”.

As far as Carl being “wrong’ I guess he has been as frustrated as anyone about the long chain of delays which have resulted from FTP tackling a product which differs so greatly in complexity from their normal product line.

Congrat's on probably the longest thread in the history of the forum , leaving us all scratching our head's  :friends::shrug::hmmm::scared::crazy::clap::confused::gaah::stormy::surrender: It was a dream that didn't come true :laughing:

Yeah Earl would have been better for manufacturer to keep this thing hush hush until they had a firm grasp on it.

Dew I would not sweat this buddy....We're doing just fine without the "AQ" and when the time comes, then we can open another chapter.
Come on "AQ"

To late

The virus is here , people getting laid off , sitting home, beaches closed , time to wait on the AQ 2 , I had my Wallet ready to open , now the vault's closed , now bad times , I let the few that buy test it, Joe good luck buddy , I guess we will get some Bay reviews, since the beaches are closed TNSS it 's like the Pat Benatar song  It's a little to little , it's a little to late :violin::violin::violin::violin::violin::sadbye:

So was the purpose of the heartbeat and the EKG image to let us know the AQ is still alive? Thanks for the video - some nice goodies were hunted.

No one cares anymore... they missed the boat and the virus probably sealed the deal to have it shelved... who is going to waste money when they may not have a job in the future?

Although maybe a introductory price of $99.99 would get a few bites

The purpose of the EKG and heartbeat is to show that this will be the last thing you see on the hospital bed waiting for this machine. It's also is a reminder that all you really need is a PULSE machine.

Im betting Fisher wont be able to get even those alleged 100 in anyones hands until fall..... any takers? At this point thou they maybe saving me from jail time.... because id be ON THE BEACH. Oh.... but wait, they are letting prisoners go...... so im good. HOWEVER ...... those 100 if they got out now would be a HUGE morale boost to others setting at the house. Especially if we were getting daily updates. Throw in some masks, rubber gloves, and toilet paper and you could have a bidding war.

Was there 1 that was sold in the US last year or something like that???
What happened to it and what has been found with it???
No feed back on it!!!

Nobody is happy at the delays. The one unit last year was mine. It was recalled. The reasons were related to the changes required in what they had expected was the final production configuration. These included issues about the EU approval of some of the materials and and issue with the US FCC certification for stray emissions from the control unit. These are now resolved as far as I know. Also, the headphones originally specified proved unsatisfactory and are now replaced with units produced in house to a design by Alexandre Tartar.

This detector is nothing like anything Fisher has produced when it comes to the cost and complexity of production. From the multilayer circuit board to the tight tolerances for the coil to enable successful operation at 7 microseconds pulse delay - all of this adds up to a challenge to a production system designed to crank our far simpler designs in volume.

This unit will have a higher price than any previous Fisher product. This is a direct result of the cost of components and labor required. This very likely makes Tom Walsh, the CEO, extremely cautious that this thing, when launched, is a stellar performer and meets the expectations of the experienced beach hunters who are the likely first purchasers.

Now we have the virus to worry about - beaches closed - what steps will be taken which could affect the launch of products by any metal detector manufacturer? Nobody knows.

Dew... none of the targets he dug were deep... I don't get the its the deepest and best out there mantra... its all BS... any pulse today or for that matter a high end VLF would have found those targets he found... the one target he was having trouble with was his fault not the detectors... I thought he was digging a hole to put in a telephone pole

Cfmct. The beach he was hunting had been pounded by extreme surf conditions. Those posts were largely buried in sand. The surface you see is the harder substrate that was exposed.

LE.JAG saw reports of the extreme beach erosion at this place south of where he lives and hurried down there. In a Skype call with Alexandre Tartar, he told me that there were lots of other guys detecting and LE.JAG’s finds far exceeded the results of the other detectorists. Perhaps it was superior skill and cunning - or maybe the AQ just did better. I will ask LE.JAG for details.

Here are some stills from the video illustrating the depth of sand removed

1. Original structures
2. Recent picture of beach BEFORE the storm
3. Pic of the conditions after the storm - check the marks on the poles showing what was previously exposed - also note the hard surface exposed and the gullies showing strong erosion
4. One of the Teller mines which the brass fuse setting discs come from

I know what WILL affect the launch of any new product , let alone a metal detector : it's called "lower the alleged price".

You may be right Earl.
Corona may have killed off Impulse AQ.
Dropping approx 2 grand on a metal detector during possible recession/depression status not even common sense.
Unless your last name is Bloomberg.

I agree. But human nature being-what-it-is : We md'rs seem drawn to always become starry-eyed and want to believe there's a better mouse-trap out there.

And why is it that most of the "starry-eyed" videos (and new-fangled inventions claiming amazing feats) seem to be coming out of Europe ? (Specifically Russian countries).

As for the amazing videos that circulate, well SO TOO could I make an "amazing video" , if I only used one of Minelab's GPX or GPZ machines. Then I too could show you a video where a quarter could be picked up nearly 2 foot deep ! Woohoo! Who can argue with depth like that, eh ? :?: The worked-out-parks would "come alive again", eh ? :?:

Yet as we all know, the devil would be in the details. There is no way you'd take that machine to the average park, school, beach, or ghost town. You would get a quick dose of reality. And You would quickly put it on the shelf, and reach for your standard discriminator or beach machine. Doh !
