Fisher Impulse AQ detector update

I have 1 beach that I hunt that on the sand flats its worthless to use anything but a pulse most targets one wishes to dig are way beyond the range of my OBN blue... I don't even bother taking out on the flats.. I have found lots of deep old gold there but each tiime was with a pulse... there is no clay to hit there at least I haven't found it even with a pulse.. its very firm black as night compressed mud.. When OBN was up here I didn't even bother taking him there...

i can't believe this will be a low production detector unless they raise their prices to pay for all the research and development that has gone into it.. a few people are not going to pay that down...

Maybe it will be the second coming of the Surf Devil  Sorry Joe, Dew.. ;)
Maybe you didn't take OBN there because you wanted to hog it all for yourself ! Agree with you on the use of the pulse and xcal. Here in So.Cal , very few are aware of this ghost detector. When I mention of the possible capabilities of this machine , they all don't really believe it or don't think it's needed. They already have a capable machine.

So what if it can go a few more inches. Not for that kind of bank. The only areas it might be good at are some of the inter tidal zones and bays. The black muck and trash. Where there are still some areas left to hunt. On the ocean side of the surf , not so much.... there just isn't the higher concentrations or pockets of gold jewelry there anymore. Not like from yesteryear. We here count on reading the beach and count on mother nature to churn out some goodies. When someone comes out with a detector that only hits on gold and nothing else , on our Pacific beaches , maybe then I will fork the cash and zigzag for 5 miles in search that elusive target. Otherwise , what we got works just fine.

Titan Program

Please consider that the AQ is just the tip of the spear.

Next comes the moneymaker - The nugget machine - I expect it will be a huge seller in the places where folks have one detector and 10 cousins with shovels and picks.

Minelab sells thousands of GPZ’s in Africa. The goal is to knock off a good part of that with a much cheaper machine with a solid value proposition.

I expect even the North America demand for that will well exceed the demand for the AQ.

And then perhaps a specialized relic machine for Culpepper and similar US sites - not to mention iron and clinker infested European fields.

Oh yes - that’s all just analogue. Digital analysis designs are well underway’

Having said all that - it’s late here and happily I recent purchased one of the decommissioned Titan missile silos here in AZ and I will retire soon and calmly await incoming Scuds! With the silo and all, it will be much less stressful than my time in Riyadh during the Gulf War. (NOTE - Snopes and a recent check of property records in AZ rate the previous statement as “doubtful”)

Of course every cloud (and we only got Scudded on nights when the clouds in Iraq hid the mobile launcher from our air assets) has a silver lining - and after every attack my pals and I ditched work and went “Scud Bit” hunting on the desert. Recently sold my bits to a neighbor who just happened to have designed all the RF antennas on the Patriot missle for Raytheon (this bit is the honest fact).

I worked at Kennedy Space Center for 34 years, the last 17 were on the Titan Program. We had a lot of ex-Air Force officers working for us who manned those silos during the Cold War. A lot of stories of those good old days.

Here you can set around and read the beach all you want...... but gold most of the time is where you find it. Less about reading the beach here and more knowing where the beach normally gives and when to hunt high bank vs flat beaches......as well as dry vs water hunting.

A couple of inches to me is worth it..... i had a really good year with the MDT... which gets a couple more inches. If i get a couple of more inches ..... we are talking 4 inches..... thats significant. Ive gotten deeper and heavier gold.... AND high K gold because i weight i believe. Yes.... in some cases even 4 inches aint going to make a difference with the sand we have. Here this time of the year with the tide swings.... it can make cuts just long enough to open stuff up. But they dont stay open long. Is it worth the money..... only if it works.... other wise a TDI might be just as effective...... we will see wont we..... well maybe we cant get Fisher to GUESS for a third time when this thing will be ready.

I'm not like that... I found a spot where I ended up with 34 gold, seated coins, tokens, collectible rings like a little orphan annie decoder ring in excellent condition.. I invited a friend and he found 19 gold... When I am on a spot I will call over a friend to join me...

That beach I mentioned is deep compressed mud and where the gold sits its not going to be reached by a Excal or any VLF... its a pulse beach all day long... little if any iron at all.

I'm not afraid of taking Joe to my spots... I know how he hunts and he knows how I hunt... I wasn't going to waste his time there... if he comes up again... I'll take him there and he can leave the Excal in the car and take his AQ :D

I love you guys up there!

See you have done excepted me as a "AQ" owner.:D

Good Luck today.

I don't care if you own one... but its going to be a niche detector...

I'm more interested in Dew and when he breaks it

Obn

I'm glad you will get your's 1st. , if there is anyone that will be testing out the water proofing capabilities, you are at the top of the list , that's good news for everyone else , planning to purchase an AQ , looking forward to the machine passing the OBN dunk test , Earl

Am I still on THE list ....or your others list 😂. If it works well in disc .... it will get more use than any PI before. Beach hunting is a niche but more and more have taken to doing it. I there there is a larger market than expected.... but I’m not sure how much of it the AQ can grab away from a multi machine like the Nox. Let us not forget the Xcal ...it’s still the machine most compare. It works. Heyyyy I don’t break every thing.... just the things that will break lol.

There is nothing to be ashamed of Dew... you are the perfect hunter to help these manufacturers build their product with superior materials... Hey maybe you were in their thoughts when they went from plastic to CF

Ok ... that’s it Felix I’m going to take a bucket of Felix pennies to you beach  ML loves me..... I’m the only guy they said you hunt to much:lol:

Careful Dew. Are you familiar with the Cold War term Mutually Assured Destruction?

So...... back to our regular program. I am curious Felix... based on what you have read how would this machine do on your beaches on that side of the island? Im hoping it can be run in JUST disc mode most of the year and that that disc works well enough to even hit the dry sand a little. We have heard and seen a lot of info on this machine..... more than most new machines coming. That can be good .... or bad. We still have yet to see marketing kick in..... well unless you call the info Rick, JAG, and Alexandre has presented. Target dates keep getting pushed toward Summer. Now what will ML do? They already have the gold machine PIs and most have to admit the Nox is really selling as a beach machine. If they see a profit in doing a disc PI..... and say dropping the CTX then Fisher best get off the pot here soon.

And is say Boooooo to Joe getting one before me.:tissue::sissyfight::saywhat: But then again..... maybe Joe should get one a couple of weeks before me.

Black sand and mineralization are not a regular problem here. I have been always able to run my machines hot at the higher end of the sensitivity scale. I kind of miss the Sand Shark that I had but after I got my Excal and screwed up my SS that I had fixed. I then sold it (for over what I paid for it) since the Excal in PP was deeper. I do know based on the knowledgeable folks on here that the SS not in the same league as the other pulses. On Miami Beach, large amounts of iron are not a problem which is why I run the Excal in PP and just dig it all about 75-80% of the time. There are other beaches that I hunt that have a bit more iron and I can't hunt like that. A detector like the AQ that has depth and can discriminate the iron out would work for me on those. Like most of you, most of the time the conditions that we encounter when we're out there can dictate our success. Yes we have thousands of more beach goers but we also have tons of :pirates: out there on a daily basis so it evens out. Think about ALL the R&D that goes into car racing for just that little extra bit. ANY edge, even if it's just a few more inches, can mean the difference between getting a signal to dig or not when beach conditions aren't favorable. Whether it's going to be the AQ for me, or a TDI-BH, or whatever else I've heard rumblings about, we are no different in wanting that edge out there - even if it's just perceived.

I see all of us getting them as soon as we pay for them, just a matter of the US postal service then. Just having the chance to get some of the first machines will be exciting, Thanks to Rick..........
As far as who does the unboxing video first, sure won't be me. I'll be ordering parts and making head phones and learning the Beast... Habits..

I agree Felix, a few inch's can make all of the difference in the world. Something I learned in January.... over again. And if the "AQ" offers more, then I'll take that as a Bonus...

Here a couple of inches may disappoint some. It may not be enough to make a difference in their finds. But if it doesn’t disc properly it could discourage them quickly. I dare say most of those on Ricks list have some idea of what to expect.

Joe you know we are good man. Can’t wait to see what mods you can make. I’ve got Tony waiting to know what the headphone connector is and the pin out. Joe .... did Alexandre already show that.... I think he did.

This is all I know right now on the Connector...It's a M-8 5 pin connector. To get the most out of the Helmet (that's what the french call head phones) you must test the output of the signal of the "AQ" and match up the piezo's.
