Fisher Impulse AQ detector update

I have dug 18 gram rings that were an inch under the sand its not all about depth..

Where I hunt in the rocks and out in the water my Excal will suffice... we don't have feet of sand up here... after about 6 inches of sand it turns to a gravely mixture and after that is clay and peat... nothing goes past that...

Here is a nice sandy beach for you that we hunt... We didn't take Earl to this spot... it would have killed him

Cool video with you and your buddies. Yes , I would have to say the majority of my gold over the years is found about 6 " deep. Give or take 2". Hardpack is what I look for. But the last few years I have found some nice lighter weight ladies diamond rings up high on the slope. In the old days , I wouldn't bother much up high because of junk. My thinking has now changed.

That video - were those big rocks you go over covered in sand ? Was this after a storm ? Or are the rocks always like that ?

The large rocks are always there... the ones near the waters edge move around ... we hunt in a fish bowl here... wind is not a big factor on the Connecticut coast down in the south west corner...its also protected from ocean waves by Long Island, New York and where I hunt is further protected by a series of small islands.. we have to climb down the rocks because there is no other access to that spot unless one was to go to the regular beach and walk along the shore and that wastes valuable hunting time.

So other than climbing up/down some rocks , its looks like rather easy digging. Some hard sand, mud maybe...No big surf to contend with...

No surf... on windy days sure.. it will keep some out of water but it won't keep me... not all beach spots are like that one... those large rocks are to protect the road above that Joe walked down onto the rocks from...

The was Joe falling because of the suction mud

Just wanted to let you know Rick , i see you chimed in on this forum today, but you didn't chime in on this thread buddy , what's the latest :laughing:, Earl :hornetsnest::impatient::stormy:

Not much to report Earl...Be like me, recon for possible good spots for the "AQ". I just found another old beach from the 20's that closed in the 60's.
I had a old timer speak of this spot. Said in the day there was a guy that would come in with a sifter and shovel...and do sifting to find the gold. Reportedly he did ok...

As far as the "AQ" ...

Are the skullies open to the highest bidder ?

No, Joe's last pair made are priceless , however :cool3: If you buy OBN's AQ for him, he might be tempted into making one last pair , don't know the answer to that only OBN :kingdances: Ring Daddy himself  can answer that one . I plead the 5th. :surrender:

Lets get the "AQ" first then go from there. I really think from what I have seen I can squezzze a lot more from the "AQ" with a better set of head phone, and that is based on a picture that was posted a while ago of headphones it was being tested with..

I'll play with the Equinox update to pass some time. I got a custom carbon shaft coming for the Sovereign GT from Steve. I am about to research the Tarsacci.

Trying to remain positive. Unusual for me. I'm not sure I like the feeling.

Get it right Fisher.....

Its a long read Goody over on Tom Ds site. I spent a few hours with the designer of the MDT yesterday and expect to meet him and Tom again tomorrow. Its a very well built machine..... needs a few changes that the Demitar is working on. But im using it just like the Xcal in PP mode and am ahead of last years Nox totals.

Joe i agree...... GREAT headphones are a real PLUS for any machine. Not sure why they arent working more in that area too since everything we hear or DONT HEAR is based on the phones. If you get a weak signal..... the phones might not respond. Not enough volume..... you miss targets too.

NOW for an issue i see....... WHAT IF they get popular .... its a PI, how many people have tried to hunt NEAR a PI? That could be an issue........ definitely WILL be for anyone with a VLF trying to hunt near you. We may well chase um all of the beach lol.

Dew I see the same with the "AQ", in all metal......... it looks like you can determined the shape, depth and size of the target from what I see in this video..just like the excalibur in PP...
At 24 to 30 seconds

And being that......... is one reason I know I can get more with a better set of head phones.

As far as Popular, I don't see that here, to costly for the average hunter. Of all the hunters in the bay,.... Most find just a few golds a year....and most love there Nox's. Now where your at...that will be interesting and maybe one reason to stay silent if your totals jump....something to consider..;)

Joe...... ive never been to concerned what that other hunter is doing...... or getting. I do my thing and hope for the best. Im just wondering how far away 2 of these machines will have to be from each other. I KNOW the Nox hunters and Xcal guys are going to pick up a lot of chatter...... aint going to be able to cancel this baby out ..

Looks and sounds like a PI Joe video.:cool3:

Fisher Impulse looks like a great detector. Too bad I don't live in Florida or Southern California.
$2500. I'd too pricey for me.

That video , not impressed with the depth of the AQ , the DF can do better than that, it's an air test , let's see a sand test Fisher  , no Big deal as fas as i can see . If i am spending 2k or more for a PI , they better come up with something , not just the remain - silent treatment , Fisher's :realitycheck:

So speaks our professional beach hunter

If its not as deep as your DF "snicker" then why would you buy one? Is it because its pretty?
