I have a question for all of you who hunt old cellar holes. Do you find anything inside the structure?
The ones that I have detected have been so full of the foundation rocks as to make it impossible without hours of work clearing it out.
So I have only detected around the outside. I have spent hours on the outside to clear undergrowth so I could swing the coil but clearing the rocks would be a huge undertaking.
The ones that haven't been full of rocks have been used as a dump and have all types of metal scrap in it.
Do any of you try to clear all the rocks out and detect? If you have did you find anything?

The only stuff I ever seem to find in cellar holes are nails and cast iron stove pieces

I've found some really nice items but you have to sift through tons of stuff before you find it. Some old homes were torn down and some were just left to rot and implode on themselves contents included. Where the home was torn down all you'll find is nails, glass, stove parts, sheet metal and more nails. The imploded ones are rarer but that's where I've found some nice stuff like coins, brass picture frames, silverware and lamp/clock parts.

I found a cache hidden in underneath a wall of a cellar hole. There was a void that I could just get my coil in.... wiped away the leaves with my hand , and there was a gorgeous 1803 draped bust that was placed there so many years ago... also recovered a half cent and a kg3 about 6 inches behind it. I also found a gorgeous Ct copper in the caved in walls of cellar many years ago... those rocks tend to protect. I always check inside and especially the chimney stack!
