Ok. I ended up doing a video and put it on my YouTube channel.
Basically when I was checking this machine out to purchase, I noticed
Unlike most of the videos I saw the mode buttons didn't seem to function or give the confirmation beeps. This is awkward to describe so I made a video..

Input please!!

Thank you

Anyone? Lol.. Figured with the video Its easier to see than describe.

How much were you going to spend on it? Mine was $154 shipped, came with a carry bag and pinpointer. Never used the bag, didn't care for the pinpointer. Pretty good detector though. I upgraded, because I thought there should be silver in my yard, but it's sunk deep. Might still be true, found only one Mercury dime with the new detector. The Quick Draw II did a pretty good job of getting most of the good targets down the first 6 inches. Wasn't much for the new detector, that I didn't have to work hard for.

If you can pick your up cheap, worth getting repaired. Never had to send in a detector, only a Garret ProPointer, under warranty. Should call and talk to the tech person, and see what you are looking at, worst case. Doubt it's a deal breaker, but never know. Some companies are all about volume and new machines sales, and try to discourage repair.

Well I did end up spending 75, detector pointer bag and scoop (all seen in video)
I questioned my memory on the videos I watched. I probably should have haggled more on the point I was suspecting was the issue.
I sent a email to bounty hunter days ago to get the good old lack of a reply..
My problem is income. I take care of a disabled person and minimal income from it. I had a explorer 1100 lined up for 60 with a seller who backed out.

I'm seeing if I can pick up a couple more detectors on a super budget for my nieces, I know at least one if not two of them want to join in and MD.

Hopefully bounty hunter will return the email. As of now about 4 or 5 days later nothing...

I guess I should kick myself for second guessing. Watched many videos on the QuickDraw 2, before I went and looked at it even downloaded the PDF and was following the testing instructions before and while I was there looking at the machine..

Lesson learned I guess

Email, is the new "Snail Mail", not the best option, if you want an answer soon, in some case, at all. Really need to call on the phone. I hate calling customer service, playing hold, and transfer tag around the office, having to keep repeating the same information. Not all are like that, some worse than others. I'm not a Garrett fan, like many here, but their customer service was quick and easy. Never had a problem with my Bounty Hunter, so don't know how their customer service works. Never know, until you call. Always have an option to hang up, if it's a nightmare. Bounty Hunter brand detectors have been around a long time, company can't be all bad.

Maybe water/liquid got in there/dirty contact behind the button/ broken wire inside? I'd pull the 4 corner screws and knobs and have a look if it was mine...

From the rusting on the headphone nut.. I'm suspecting moisture may be a good culprit. Haven't gotten up the nerve to open it yet..
Not sure how these buttons are other than bubbled with the stick on face..
I don't wanna go backwards functionality wise lol

As a company they may not be, a week without a email reply is poor customer service though. I'm at work most business phone hours. Or not awake yet in morning lol... In next few days hopefully can figure it out..

I don't know how much $ you have in the MD, but if you don't end up sending it in for repair, open it up carefully and take a look. Or ask on here if anyone has experience opening one of these up and see what they did. If the machine is not usable to you you might as well try and see.

Seems to function normally just no mode buttons.
Luckly I think this defaults to all metals. Not sure if I'm ready
To open yet until I give it a full test. Air tested it caught keys at various lengths, got most of the coin types right as well.. So its not dead but not 100%..

Your email to Bounty Hunter

I have no way of knowing what you wrote in your email – but I'm guessing you asked about how much it would cost to fix your detector.

I know from experience that Bounty Hunter - which is part of first Texas products in El Paso will not give you a repair estimate. From long experience they have learned that in only leads to dissatisfaction on both sides if it turns out that the problem is bigger than anticipated at the time they give you the estimate.

With your shipment cost to them – probably $25 – and their repair costs which in no way would be less than $50 – you're probably better off using the detector as is or throwing it away. There are lots of good use detectors out there for $100 in a brand-new bounty Hunter QuickDraw II woldn't cost more than than $150.

Having said that they should answer your email within a week – even if it is to say they can't give you an estimate.

Never did hear back from them. But yea I think as of now ill use it all metal and dig some extras. I'll skip the notching. It will be good enough for my nieces to use.
