Help! I am brand spanking new to this. I was doing yardwork, as usual, when I noticed my bracelet was gone. I wear several sterling silver bracelets at all times as in I NEVER take them off even at the airport. Well, apparently, this one got caught on a shrub branch. I think I know the vicinity it is in, and I looked, but the shrub is dense and behind my metal pool fence. My hubby happened to have a metal detector he had borrowed a while back from a friend. I tried using it but it seems to keep picking up the metal fence (iron comes up). If necessary, I could lay down face up and shimmy under the shrubs to look up but I'm not sure if the bracelet is higher up to the top or closer to the ground. I'm ready to cut the 14 year old shrubs down out of frustration. Is there a trick to using the metal detector to avoid the metal fence?:?: Thanks much for your help!

Two ways to get closer to a fence....turn down the sensitivity to a very low level, as you are searching for a fresh drop and depth is not an issue. The other is to use the smallest coil you have available.

you don't need a metal detector

wait till dark and get a bright LED flash light and shine it from all different angles where you thought you lost it. More times than not shiny metalic items will give off a nice reflection. Use one of those small adjustable TAC lights and use the wide beam and then later if not found use the narrow pointed beam.

Where are you located? Perhaps one of the members here would be able to help you find it.

What you can try is, as suggested earlier, reduce sensitivity, and in addition discriminate anything BUT silver. Since you have other similar bracelets, depending upon the detector you have access to, you can scan the bracelet you have, and knock out everything other than what that bracelet comes up as.

This is likely how you’ll find this...and a GENIUS suggestion. We call this “outside the box” and the Kat is dead on. That thing will reflect a light like that VERY brightly...
