Best detector for about $200?

Ace 250, Fisher F2, Tesoro Compadre, or Whites Coinmaster

I agree I have an Ace 250. The most important part is that you have learn your detector whatever you choose. I really enjoy mine and have found lots of clad, some silver jewelry, lots of junk jewelry and a five gallon bucket of scrap metal.
Just go and dig and have fun.

f2 is good in that range...I owned one and liked it, or teknetics euro i would not be scared to buy...never tried one however....I might be bias because I hunt with an f70, and a t2se....but they also have a five year warranty. garretts are good machines but the only one I owned was an at pro so I cant help with the 250..

i sure like my F2 with the 8IN coil and for $200.00 mine came with hockey puck coil digger and cheap pp.

Donney...do you use eBay? About once every year or so I go through stuff and make an ebay pile and list it for sale. I usually net between $100 and $300. It amazes me the junk people will buy (I'm obviously guilty too).

I would try to step up to at least an Ace350 or a F5. That way you can ride the detector for a while without itching for an upgrade.

Keep an eye on Craigslist too.

Eurotek pro!!!!!

Get the Teknetics Eurotek Pro! GREAT machine for the price. I just got mine and I am totally impressed with it.

Eurotek Pro have one love it. Ace had one hated it. F2 almost ordered one but went with the ETP because it has iron audio and the F2 doesn't.

So the F2 can't discriminate iron out well? Does it discriminate out on the meter?

I would go with the Eurotrek Pro. It's pretty much an updated F2, Fisher and Teknetics are sister companies.

My F4 discriminates out iron just fine. The Whites Coinmaster I started with did too. I didn't know there was a detector out there that had any particular difficulty discriminating iron? Sure once in awhile you'll get an incorrect signal on a nail, but I just thought that was part of the game.
I normally run high discrimination though, that might affect my opinion.
