Looks like Nokta has a new product called FIND X .Has anyone used one? They have two models the plain jane and the Pro.Anyone have any feed back?Thank you.

User videos should be coming soon.

It looks to me like the FindX is meant to compete with the cheap Amazon detectors. The FindX is $150 for the kit, and no doubt is much better quality and much better performance than those cheaply made Amazon brands. The Find X Pro is submersible. The FindX is not.

In addition, I saw a post by Nokta saying that a "high end" detector is in the works. That sounds like a successor to the Legend :)

That was quick!

I believe the FindX is $139 and the FindX pro is $179.

Looks like a Simplex, Legend, Score design.

Likely pretty rugged as a result.
Pro is waterproof, other likely water "resistant".

I believe one if not both comes with headphones, that is amazing.

My nearby metal detector store owner says Nokta is embroiled in a lawsuit with Minelab over patent rights regarding multi frequency technology and Nokta seems to be waging war with affordable machines that may out- perform many Minelab products.

I didn't think anything could cost less than a Simplex Lite. As usual I was wrong.

I've had a Simplex, Legend, and a Score. They all have the same build and I cannot see how they would vary too much in the cost to manufacture them.

Good mercy, looks like war about the competition in detectors! Its like a give away at $179.00 with headphones, digger, and carrying bag.:hmmm:

And sometimes if something seems to good to be true it probably is. I recently learned that less when buying a Minelab XTerra Pro. I'm real ticked that if I want wireless headphones I'm stuck with buying the Minelab ML85 and paying $100+ for them. Not happening.
The FindX I would assume is a Nokta offering to counter the Minelab Xterra Voyager and XTerra Pro.
FindX operates at 15khz only vs the Xterra Pro with selectable 5,10,and 15 along with 8khz fixed on beach settings. The Voyager is locked at 5.82khz and takes 2 9V batteries vs the Nokta offerings having rechargeable batts like the XTerra Pro.

Nokta is saturating the low end market and it doesn't make sense.
I would much rather see them make a legend pro.

They will kill themselves launching new product. I just don't get it.

It makes perfect sense for the same reasons Minelab introduced low cost detectors like the X-Terra Pro and the Voyager. Keep in mind that young newbies that don't have a clue about metal detecting, probably aren't going to search out a metal detecting forum, nor do they want to spend big bucks on a hobby they might not enjoy. Those newbies will be going to Amazon and buying a low cost detector.

Nokta made a post on their Facebook forum that a "high end" detector and two PI detectors are in the works. I think we can safely assume the former will be the successor to the Legend.

Kill themselves? Ummm Nokta is rapidly growing. Have you seen their new headquarters that they just built from the ground up? I'm not sure why you think they're killing themselves, because if anything, Nokta is "killing" the bottom line of other manufacturers.

Go on Amazon and search for “metal detector” and look at sold last month.
This is old school. The more shelf space you take up, the more you sell.
Might even start to offer different colors, more shelf space.

Thanks for the replies. Good points.
It is pretty crazy the amount of new hardware they are dropping but you're right, they are growing so they must be doing something right.

Look at the difference between the Nokta display at SHOT Show and the Minelab display.

The youngest Boomers are going to turn 60 next year, with the oldest being nearly 80, so Nokta is marketing more towards younger GenX(Xennials), Millennials and Zoomers. The younger Generations, in general terms, aren’t popping for D2s and Manticores, because of their lack of wealth. Inflation, housing costs and healthcare are consuming their income.

The kicker is that Nokta is rapidly approaching making as high of a performing detector as XP and Minelab, for a significantly lower cost.

It sure appears that Nokta is presenting itself better at that show than Minelab did. For all the money Minelab makes, it's really obvious that customers don't matter to them. Look at all the effort Nokta took with their setup vs. Minelab and their arrogance thinking it was okay to just put their stuff out and their name. All giants are capable of being felled. But the real question remains- If Nokta does get big like Minelab will they too become arrogant and skyrocket their prices? Remains to be seen.

Thing is Rob, how do we know how big Nokta has become? It's not as though we have detector sales and profit data to compare. Although it's quite clear that Nokta has been felling said giant in the coin / jewelry detector market, but there's still the gold market. Minelab still seems to have that market cornered. With the astronomical prices of Minelab's gold detectors (up to $10,000), their profit margin on those detectors is also astronomical. However, Minelab's monopoly on that market is falling due to the AlgoForce, Axiom, and Nokta's upcoming PI gold detector. Then there is also the upcoming successor to the Legend, and whatever Garret is supposedly bring to the table with the Storm. I think all of that will prove to be the final nail in Minelab's coffin.

Going back to how big Nokta has become...well, take a look at their award winning new headquarters and factory that they recently built from the ground up. Here's a short video of it when they hosted a 2023 conference for their distributers:

The final nail in the coffin for all metal detector manufacturers will be over government regulations (NO PLACE TO HUNT) We are seeing it happen year after year no more crazy old men walking around digging holes in the ground the majority of the populations could care less lf outlawed . sube

As much as I prefer using a shovel, I would never walk into a park or any well maintained grassy area with a shovel. It's the shovel that plays a major role in the banning of metal detecting.

On those type of sites, I use a PI pinpointer held vertically to really zero in most targets. Then I very discreetly use a hand trowel. In the future though, I'll likely use a popping method for the targets that the PI pinpointer can hit.

If you have one laying around, 15 inch Flat Pry Bar, might give it a try. You have to get a good pinpoint, like you say. Put it over the target and give it a stomp. Bend it over with foot weight on it. It pops a small plug out.
If it’s thick grass, then the plug remains intact.
The other end can be used like a trowel, not as good.

Haven’t made up my mind on it, but I use it in real critical areas. Also good on thick gravel parking areas, which is what I initially used it for.
