SORRY FOR THE LATE POST.HAD A HOT DATE TONITE!
BOY IT WAS A WARM ONE TODAY.WE STAYED LOCALLY TODAY AND WENT LOOKING FOR SOME CELLAR HOLES.FOUND A NEW ONE AGAIN IT'S OVERGROWN BUT FOLLOWED SOME TRAILS AND HIT SOME TARGETS IN THE TRAILS.MIKE DID PRETTY GOOD! COOL KEY HE FOUND. I BOUGHT MIKE'S XLT AND IT HAD IT'S MAIDEN VOYAGE TODAY.
I GOT THESE 2 INDIAN HEAD PENNIES 1890 & 1898,A FRONT HALF OF A 2 PIECE BUTTON.WONDER WHAT THIS DESIGN MEANS? MY FIRST BOOT PLATE! ALWAYS WANTED ONE OF THESE! FINALLY GOT IT:D very small could this be froma childs boot ?
THEN WENT TO AN OLD HOUSE I HIT A FEW MONTHS AGO.DUG A PORTION OF CHAIN SOME MARINER LINKS ALONG WITH REGULAR LINKS IN THE CHAIN.IT WAS A BIT TARNISHED AND DROPPED IT IN SOME TARN-X.YOU IMMEDIATELY KNOW WHEN YA DROP STERLING INTO THIS SOLUTION AS IT GIVES OFF A SULPHER TYPE SMELL . NO OTHER METAL DOES THIS WHEN SUBMERGED .ITS SILVER!
THEN IN THE BACK YARD I GOT THE END OF A OLD PIECE OF CUTLERY.ENGRAVED WITH INITIALS CH or is it CJC? IT'S MARKED PURE COIN SILVER ON THE BACK.OVER AN OUNCE IN WEIGHT BOTH PIECES.THEN LAST FIND OF THE DAY WAS A JUNKER OPALESCENT TYPE STONE? NO MARKINGS IT'S JUST A COSTUME JUNK RING
NOT A BAD DAY FOR US.I THINK WE WERE CLOSE TO SOME NEW HOLES ON THOSE TRAILS BUT JUST COULDN'T PIN POINT EM.A LOT OF STONE WALLS ALONG TRAILS.
STAY COOL EVERYONE!
DAVE

I knew that chain had to be silver. It was in too good of shape not to be. Congrats on the silver and the boot plate!

Thanks

Congrats on the great finds! That boot plate is too cool! Was it a custom piece or were they mass-produced?

Thanks

congratulations on the finds... Silver is good... Now over $14 an ounce. What is that weird plant in the first picture??? Ricko

that weird plant is what's left of a jack in the pulpit plant.THE LEAVES FELL OFF AND THAT IS THE SEED POD

could be from the 2nd corps,1st division army of the Potomac...there symbol was a trefoil/3 leaf clover,a few others used the symbol as well as there was alot of irish soldiers in these divisions. I guess it could aslo be from the "Irish brigade" 69th New York infantry regiment...really no telling. we find alot around here with a heart symbol.
