Fisher Impulse AQ detector update

These are my better keepers from 2 fresh water beaches I hunt regulary, along with other detectorist. It has easy access free parking and no one bothers you.
All these were faint signals and all well over a foot deep. These are targets that all other detectors did not see. But the TDI Beach Hunter did. All are good finds but of all these targets only 1 of these rings is GOLD all are old and been there a long time but again you have that ratio of targets to Gold. Will this new Manta be worth the money and wait to see what lies in maybe the next say 4 or 6 inch layer below. Where the target to gold ratio is very low, as we all know

Good Job..

JAG.......there will be no more debate
AQ Impulse system fully operational

we go to Terra
we will come back to AQ when the first will be distributed
well before Christmas and will cost you less than $ 5000

Soooo what say you water hunters...... ready to pay up? Im sure he was making a "funny" with that price. But even $3000 its what a good many might make in a year of gold finds........then another year to pay it off. IF he wasnt kidding .......Fisher could have a awfully lot of um available. Personally..... coming out in the fall or winter isnt a bad thing for me...... i get the recent drop season over and start looking for those targets missed.

Meanwhile back in the laboratory…

Alexandre is a bit of a “mad scientist” type - he is absolutely obsessed with detector design. It has been his passion for over a decade and I have the strong impression that it’s about all he thinks about.
Like everyone else interested in this Project, I am unhappy with the time it has taken to get it into production. There are lots of good reasons for this, having to do with issues like complex 3 layer circuit boards, very special construction requirements for 7 microsecond coils, thourgorully testing the mechanical components and designing and qualifying the assembly and test stations and qualifying the operators.
Meanwhile, back in the “Doc Brown’s Secret Laboratory” (I mean Alexandre’s place in France) - “Doc Brown” (I mean Alexandre) is busy with his “flux capacitor time machine” (I mean the AQ and a series of follow on model detectors) - after all, isn’t that what metal detectors are - time machines?? Lol

Why is it when we have suggestions or ask a question all we get is your spin on the detector?

A few of us have mentioned the coil wire design flaw which is a flaw in us beach hunters eyes when its near the stick it has some protection out in the open its ripe for being snagged or bumped into a underwater target..

Take that back your your leaders and let us know if you get a reply.

Ouch. It’s not spin - it’s a story - partly true (Alexandre’s general character and approach to his work) and partly a fun comparison to a popular movie. Oh yes - and I firmly believe that metal detectors are really time machines - and if you think about it for a minute, unless you spend your time detecting utility cables, you will probably agree.

When I have answers, I give them. The cable question was asked a while back I think and - at that time - I had no information to offer. Now there is some.

I can’t just use my crystal ball to get information. Almost everything I have ever posted as a fact has been something I have found by diligently digging. Pounding Google and monitoring a half-dozen or more websites about this project for damn near 5 years now. In the process, very occasionally, I learn something which is not disclosable. In such cases, I don’t disclose it. If it is later disclosed by FT, I may well comment on it.

I also post my own assumptions, conclusions, wild *** guesses etc. I think I do an OK job of correctly identifying the foregoing stuff as what it is.

If somebody wants to characterize my “work product” of scouring the web for info, which I have shared here as “spin” - I resent the heck out of that. If they want to characterize my “assumptions, conclusions, wild *** guesses etc.” as spin - go ahead, but if so it’s my “spin” not that of Fisher. They will no doubt speak for themselves when the time comes.

If my contributions to the “club” here on this sub forum are unwelcome, well, I guess then someone will say so. Since I have been a member on this forum for 13 years and have contributed about 560 posts I will continue to contribute on other topics in this or other sub forums.

How about this answer about the cable...and some other stuff - posted by LE.JAG the other day on another forum. You don’t need inside information, just to read a few other sources. This is from Steve Herschbach’s Detector Prospector forum from the other day,,,,,,here’s his post

Hi

I see that there is a lot of questions
I will not answer all / confidentiality clause oblige ..
some precision all the same

the cable outlet on the coil
is not an aesthetic fantasy ...
the 7us in large series to technical consequences
it was in front or behind / not to bend the cable it is in front of ...

Impluse AQ is optimize for the beach
with one goal: gold, gold

no gb that produces noise

mono coil / specific connector
again: it's a technical constraint
on most inexpensive connectors
the pins are mobile = to 7us they make noise
not the one who was selected

all to be thought and planned at all levels
to reduce the noise
less noise = more gold ....

from the start, the goal was to produce the best beach pi
not a machine goes everywhere
if you make compromises: you lose performance ...

Since the Russian video, the detector has been touched up
to say nothing more ..
just that many will be surprised at the results

and of course, are twin brother // optimize for the nugget
is on the road

Huh? Let me quote the “Captain” in Cool Hand Luke”

“What we have here is a failure to communicate”

Have a quick look at the current text of my last post, it may help.

Stop tearing up and put your toys back down Rick. I just like messing with ya lol. We have less assumptions than you just because you at least got to run an early model. We just like to keep fact from fish stories. No doubt that’s going to get sorted out once they hit the streets. I for one hope it’s all JAG says it is. May miss the mark on a couple of things for me....but I’ve not seen a perfect machine yet. It’s got a lot to prove as a PI..... there is a reason most of us don’t use um. Price and warranty....I think everyone I’ve spoken still has a budget. Some will buy regardless....others will do the wait and see. Just like the CTX and Nox.

Happy to know I haven’t been voted off the island!

I was ESPECIALLY proud of the whole “back to the Future” thing - you guys are a tough audience. Lol

I do firmly believe that metal detectors are time machines - deadly serious about that.

I have to agree ...these guys can be brutal ...we spend a lot of time in the sun lol. Time machine .... I can see that ...digging the past. The better the detector the farther we can go.

I won't say we are brutal Dew... I would say we tell it like it is here... you don't have thick skin in the beach forum you are in trouble.. ;)

Rick it seems your fighting an uphill battle here... it becomes especially difficult without knowing how big the hill is (release date)

It was fall........ now sometime before Christmas....... but he didnt say what year. Starting to think that Pulse Devil will get here first..... or a ML that might obsolete all VLFs. Not certain why you want to introduce a machine when a lot of people maybe putting theirs up for the season..... unless they want a limited number to hit the streets first? Craig you are right there are a lot of good beach guys on here that dont let much slide...... but it makes for some good brain storming..... with a lot of varied opinions.

Maybe if it comes out late we will get a senior citizen discount.. I know you fall into that range.. Its nice to be able to walk into a store and be called sir and get cheaper coffee

Earl is going to be very upset... what is he going to do...

Who knows, they might come up with some sort of “early bird special” - expensive item, new technology - Nikon just did that with their new mirrorless camera.

For all their lack of success lately in launching new detectors, First Texas has consistently been pretty clever at marketing their products.

NOTE: file this post under “Rick’s totally unfounded speculation”. No actual information forms the basis for this post - except about Canon.

Put me down for the front of the line. Early Bird gets the worms.

Wouldn’t a discount be nice.....I mean ML gave a military discount of 15%...that was petty significant.....and we really appreciated it as Vets. Joe you can’t have one ....you hunt to much:laughing: I’ll pull the hoody over my head and slowly leave the building if it’s $5000. I can buy a lot of cheese burgers for that and I’m starting to trip over good machines now

OBN / Rick

Add me to the list, ill take the early bird :worms: special buy 3 get the 4th free :laughing: In the mean time , if it's not out by Xmas , i will buy a ATX , and TDI Beachunter to put under my :xtree: I need 10 beach machine's , only have 6 , when i go to bed at night , i figure if the bed is full of goodies , Shogun won't jump the bed  He just told me , he will dig the 2 foot hole's at the beach -for a nice bone :D ALL IN
