Well, Where do I begin? My NOX experience so far...Picked it up on Friday, made it home by midnight...Watched a few hours of Youtube vids...Figured out how to put on the screen protector by 4am...thanks again to youtube, I figured out how to 'pair' the wireless phones by dawn...By noon Saturday I had it fully assembled!...Exhausted!
Then I went hunting Sunday for @15 minutes, damn thing didnt work! ...So I went home and watched more youtube vids....By Monday morning I finally figured out how to turn it on!....Watched more youtube instruction vids...did a factory reset...and TODAY I finally took it out hunting!
I left the headphones in the car on account of its just too confusing and went out commando...and swung this rig all the day in various places I am familiar with! Beach,Water, totters, schoolyards, parks, heavy iron and pulltabby/bottlecappy to be damned places I've been to 100's of times....
So heres what I have to say with roughly 8hrs behind the NOX screen...and heres the finds I've previously missed...
Its not as fast or as comfortable to swing as my F70...In fact, the balance is all off and its top heavy..the balance point on the NOX is about 2' in front of the grip, where on the 70 its only about a foot...The weight is all in your hand and it wants to roll itself over..Not as bad as an AtPro... but still worth the mention....A guy has to rethink the swing format to run this rig fast and long on wide open stretches...
This is a huge factor for cutting a wide fast swath...I can feel the NOX workout in my shoulder and elbow right now.....it doesnt snug down into the web of your hand comfortable like the 70 does...With the 70, you can swing it all day as if it was nothing but a twig...The NOX is not as uncomfortable as the AtPro however...so thats good...
Yes it works on Black sand better than the Atpro, yes, you can hop coil and stoopNstab clad just like with the F70...Yes the 50 tone and proportional audio feedback is dead on..a guy can tell a Q at 3" or a D at 4" if the sense is dropped to two bars...so it will be a great Cladhammer...a guy dont need to push the PP button on account of you can hop coil, big plus there...Yes it hits deep...
IMPORTANT! A funny and good thing I noticed...without the headphones, the handle actually vibrates due to the speaker being in the grip....the sound vibrations are transmitted right into your hand! so a guy can use this rig totally deaf! Or even in the dead of night to easily pinpoint the target by hopping coil! That was really cool! Like a vibra wand kind of feature!
Its pretty damn impressive though, I hit some multidenom tight spills that were simple to unravel, some multidenom stacks too...a pair of nickels close together, easy to isolate tight targets and stab them...easy to tell scrap from coins in a tight hot mess...
I got fooled a few times by some sweet sounding deep screwoffs, but hey, who hasnt! My Wife got fooled by a sweet sounding screwoff 40yrs ago, and She has a pretty high discrimination setting, reject and notch out capability, low threshold factory settings even!...
This is the first time I've ever hunted without phones, it was sort of nice...
...I remember I was so unfamiliar and intimidated with the F70 10yrs ago...I ran it in AT for a solid year straight! It took me a month to figure out the AtPro! I have to watch youtube vids to see how to put waders on!
Yeah...this is gonna be a challenge for Poor Old Mud!...But, as they say, 'Nothing worth a diddly damn comes simple!' Well I do!! Youtube save Me!
