I agree. With the XP, for instance, being able to run several different frequencies, I don't think that's what the claim was targeting. Same for the Impact, as I understand. If it can run multiple frequencies, I don't think that's what Minelab was claiming it will "obsolete..." Instead, I see those machines as the ones this one will be directly in competition with, and will have to prove itself better "in the field." Because if it can't, then I see no reason to own this one "instead of" a Deus or Impact. With that said, though, if this machine's "multi-frequency" mode proves to be effective, one would have to ask themselves why you would buy a machine that can only run one frequency, or at least one frequency "AT A TIME," when this machine can do BOTH -- multiple choices of a single frequency, OR, multiple frequencies AT ONCE...
But, I will say, the ability to run several different user-selectable frequencies through one coil is very nice. Not sure if the Impact can do it, but my understanding was that the Deus needs different coils to run different frequencies, and I know the X-Terra needs different coils as well...
