So I hit a spot I got permission to awhile back. I had tried to get to this spot several times over the last few months and for one reason or another things didn’t line up. Well today the stars aligned and I had one of best days in a long time. This field is sandwiched between three houses all built in the 1820’s so I had high hopes of maybe some seated coins or maybe even a capped bust. Well all I could manage was colonial but that’s fine by me! I started out kind of disappointed after finding several pull tabs at 4-5 inches deep so I was almost thinking of throwing in the towel as it seemed like there had been heavy movement of the dirt. I made a long line toward the back corner and I hit a solid 25-26 signal. I dug down and there it was, the little green disc that I dream about. It turned out to be a King George 2 copper. Swung a little while longer and found some more relics. A few buttons, an iron shoe buckle, a jaw harp and an ox knob. I kept working the field and although it wasn’t lights out it was definitely worth it. I kept at it and bang, another KG2. Kept swinging for awhile and then in the same line I hit a Connecticut copper and about 20 feet further down the line there was another one. It was starting to get dark and I told myself one more signal and then I’m done. It took awhile to get it but I got a tight 25 and popped out a copper that looks like it was made into a washer. That was it, too dark to keep swinging. While I was in the field a neighbor came over and invited me to beep their yard so this spot could be a goldmine. The homeowner was fantastic and actually thanked me for detecting the property. I told her she could have anything she wanted so I cleaned the stuff up and I’ll bring it by tomorrow. Haven’t had a day like this in awhile. If anyone knows what the items are with the forks are let me know. They beep a 16 so I’m assuming they’re made of brass. Thanks for looking and hopefully the ground stays frost free for awhile.
