This little guy is about half and inch long and kinda diamond shaped. It reads John Starkey with some kind of diamond shaped graphic in the center.

Looks like a break at the bottom. I have no idea what this thing is but it reads on the ACE 250 between the penny and a dime. There is nothing on the back.

A google search for old Johnny boy doesn't seem to be doing much good....

Thanks, bootmud

if there is anyway you can get us a closer in pic to decipher what else is on the item it would be a huge help.

I can't seem to make out the diamond mark in the picture very well but I do know that it is a british registration mark (patent). They were used up until 1883. You can use this webpage to decode it:
http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/reg.htm
The webpage is for pottery but the only thing that differs between pottery and metal marks are the roman numerals at the top.

Hope this helps

jamus,

Thanks a bunch! Unfortunately I can't tell what all the numbers and letters are but that at least confirms that it's from the UK and probably 1800's.

Thanks again, bootmud
