Whites M6 very low volume

Just picked up a used M6 from eBay. Everything functions normally except there is almost zero sound from the speaker, and with headphones the volume is extremely low. I have tried different headphones and different batteries. I would rather avoid the hassle of returning it if it's a simple fix...maybe a pot on the circuit board? There is no external volume control. Thanks.
