Where should I buy

Hello first time posting. I have a few questions. I'm thinking of buying a AT pro for my first detector. I have friends who own them and yea I think that's going to be what I buy. Just wondering where I should buy it. Kellyco has a deal where you can get the detector and the pinpointer with another coil for around 700 dollars. I know I'm going to buy it online. They want 700 for just the detector at the store. I'm just wondering If that's a good deal. They said they would give me 10 dollars off and a 50$ gift card to home depot. I mean at that price I would get a bunch of extra for less then I could buy the detector at the store. Is it a good buy? Should I look somewhere else? Sounds like a good deal to me.

Check out one of the sponsors of this forum for a great deal. You can see the banners at the top of the forum and under that it says "List all sponsors". I have had great luck with Indian Nations Detectors. Bart and Big Boys Hobbies also gets a lot of positive feeback. Kellyco seems to be hit and miss really...perhaps more miss than hit. Good luck and welcome to the forum. :D

Check treasure mountain. Ed is his name. I just bought my omega 8000 and TRX pinpointer from him today for an awesome deal. Shipping tomorrow and I should get it Friday (hopefully) or Monday. He pays the shipping.

I tried to purchase from KellyCo 2 years ago. They took my order and after more than a week I called and they said they were back ordered

Cancelled my order and went with Bart at Bigboyshobbies.net.
KellyCo is known for giving junky extras.

Like was said call and check with a sponsor. You can do a lot better.I got my at pro from bart 3 weeks ago and nobody beat his price. And once you learn it you will love the at pro.Good luck and HH.

AT PRO great first machine. Wish I'd started with it instead of the Ace 250 which I grew out of quickly.

I'm a little suspect of the packaged deal on the AT PRO. Not sure the extras are worth the money. However, Kellyco's site does say their including a pinpointer with every detector, but not sure which one. The sub $100 pinpointers aren't that great.

So if you go bare bones $594 AT PRO or a package, just know you'll also need:
1. A pinpointer $125 Garrett ProPointer the gold standard (kinda required)
2. A digging tool. The $37 Lesche, the gold standard. (optional, garden trowel)
3. A pouch $12 (optional, a 90s era fanny pack)
4. A beach scoop? $35 for the small ones, $100-$200 for the long-handled wade-in-the-water kind. (optional, make your own)
5. A towel for dirt hunting (golf towel works)

Skip the so called "free-extras" and send emails to all the sponsors. You may even find one of the sponsors have a used but still under warranty model for even less.

Pinpointers.....the ATP is pretty accurate so you can narrow down the target's location to within a baseball size area. Harbor freight sells cheapy pp's for under $15....it'll do until you have saved enough for a high-end model.

Lesche type diggers you can try making from a harbor freight $5 spade and simply cutting it down.

If you are beach/water hunting....then their is no substitute for buying a good quality scoop. Spending the $150-200 is the only way to avoid a scoop that bends or breaks....well unless you have your own fab shop. :D

You cant beat Bart (BigBoysHobbies) or Chuck (Indian Nations) for their customer service, which is well worth the experience from what many many customers have stated -

Legends in this hobby for sure

Another vote for Bart at Big Boy Hobbies.

Consider calling a couple of sponsors though, with your needs, and see who makes you happiest.

Good luck, and good digs!

Larry @ NWI detectors killed everyone else's "deal" on my last 3 machines! Not to mention, he is a super nice guy to talk too...I recommend you call him before making a purchase...219-286-3179
