We used to find a machine gun " nest" which would be packed full of 50. cal brass, and that adds up fast !. Pretty soon you are digging them up, and that's a pain ! Still disappointing to dig up brass, when it rang up with high numbers Shotgun brass is almost always a disappointment ! I hear ya about the bullets, Must be the shape, cause you hardly ever get them next to the surface, and we hunt some places where they trained for WW. 1, and 2 ! Don't come across the shotgun ammo stuff, now and then, so it's not to bad. Come Winter time, I would love to dig them up !!!! lol
