I got a pink delivery attempt notice instead of my package. I was home, but I assume the carrier knocked with a damp sponge, because I didn't hear any attempt to summon me. Now, I have to walk to the post office on Monday because the carrier didn't want to chance bruising their delicate hand knocking on my wooden door.

The local USPS office has a one-star rating at the site I checked. I just wished the vendor had an option for me to pick the delivery agent. I know it's not universal, but in my area, UPS is hands-down the best choice. FedEx is last, and USPS is only slightly ahead of FedEx.

I knew it was coming today, but since the USPS shows up anytime between 9 AM and 8 PM, I had no idea what time I would need to be down there waiting. They don't give me a time estimate like UPS. There was even one carrier on my route that didn't feel like carrying the packages around, so they marked them all as "inaccessible", and left them for the next carrier to deliver. I told the regular carrier, and he said he would report her.

use usps "hold for pick up"

(NOT 'hold mail')
I'm old and overweight, so it is a pain for me to have to walk to the top of the hill and pick up my package. I don't drive (never have, bad eyesight). What I want is consistency, which is not part of the USPS service package.

Man, that is a bad situation for you, Tom. We have the same 3 services at the Castle, with so many deliveries that KT has to check the back door, carport entrance and mailbox every day! But we personally know our USPS rural route delivery lady so we can call her cell phone if I get a delivery notice email and do not find the item. Then KT calls her to see if she missed it or where she put it. Even had her come back by at the end of her route and put it in the mailbox and then call us right then! KT cannot gripe about either UPS or Fedex for they both drop off everything now in the carport, having left instructions for this address to do that, no to back door or front door of the Castle. I know they are a sub if they do not follow instructions and leave it somewhere else. But it took a few times catching them to get them to realize what we wanted!

Still, sorry to hear of your trouble!

Kingtotsalot, having seen King Charles wearing his 22K headgear today I have to ask if you have "crown envy"?

Maybe you need to paint the Royal Ruckus gold.

Ya'll are going about it wrong. If you have one delivery person and not a half dozen then do yourself a favor and leave them a gift certificate to something like Subway, Applebee's, or whatever for a ten spot. We do that and our mail packages are delivered right to our door. Only time I have had to go get it at the post office is when there is an alternate. I little gift goes a long way.

Unfortunately, and I don't know why, my area is not that desirable and our carriers always bid on other routes, so they change quite frequently. Also, I think we have different carriers on the weekend rather than during the week.

I can't blame unions in general, because UPS is unionized and almost always provide be with great service. It just seems that USPS employees at my location seem to adhere to a CTR policy (Coast 'Til Retirement).

My late father, former USPS employee, said that the union would cover their hineys, but for the first ninety days, while the employee was in their probationary period, they could be fired almost at will.

Sorry to stir up discontent, but I needed to vent.

Update: I have a USPS account, so I requested redelivery on Monday. I still had to sign the pink slip, and will leave it where the carrier can take it. I don't have a car, and unfortunately, USPS carriers new to the route just assume nobody is home because the driveway is empty. When the USPS called to let me know that I needed to sign the pink slip, I told them repeatedly that I would be home, as usual. I still don't think it sunk in.

one of the managers at our shop is a retired usps employee and he said the working conditions there are unimaginable stress from the bosses ordering the carriers to deliver more mail than there are hours in a day! Amazon account makes it super bad he said.
Many carriers just quit on the spot when they took on amazon.

I slip my Postal guy $40 every Christmas and I get first class service BUT anything outside his control and USPS is lackluster at best.
