help id todays silver finds

my reasearch paid off at the local library today. I spent about an hour there and found some local places of interest. took the trusty ace 250 with the sniper coil and spent about an hour and a half mding one of these places and found these silvers and some clad. correct me if im wrong but i think the one on the right is a 1916 barber dime. its hard to tell because it looks like someone shot it. not good for value but it looks kinda cool almost 3-d. thanks for looking and remember it really pays to do some research.

The back is like a Mercury dime. Still don't know about the front????

definitely looks like it used to be a coin pen. One of my cousins found an indian head just like that except it still had the pen attached to the back part that yours has. As for identifying the coin, I can't really tell. The fact that is is nineteen seventeen and that it is an american dime shows that it should be a mercury, but it looks like a mans face. Curious?

Looks like a punched coin to me. Maybe it was punched into a die that changed the face?

THat's freaky. Maybe it's from an alternate reality dimension where this is what merc dime era coins look like.

I agree with Fastforty....it's a Merc that was punched or stamped to create a new image on the front of the coin. If I'm not mistaken someone else on this forum a year or two ago found something similar and posted a photo of their find back then. Anyone else remember this....or am I on drugs?

this is a closeup of the front. I agree, after cleaning a little more i can see the wings and neck line of a merc. thanks for everyones help
