To dig, or not to dig??

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to metal detecting, so I had a pretty simple question. When I'm out metal detecting, if I get an iron signal, 9 times out of 10 I will skip over it because whenever I actually do dig iron, ITS JUNK!! I just want the good stuff So my question is, do you dig iron? Is there a possibility that I could be skipping over a gold ring or something? What might I be missing out on??

What machine? For most Iron is on the other end of the meter from coins and jewelry. But if you are hunting relics, you dig iron.

Well im new to but from what I read dig it all....
But also it mite be your metal detector don't discriminate well or your sensitive settings to high but before some of the pro can really help post what your hunting with..
But hey im just a newbie
