The FBI Files: Dents Run Civil War Gold

I recently read in another treasure forum where someone desired to recover a treasure from PA State Game Lands. I was surprised that the moderators over there were discouraging and not more informative in steering the treasure hunter to contact the officials. There is actually an option to apply for a PA State Game Lands Special Use Permit - Request Application, (Form 60.7). Contact the offical in charge of that region, apply for the permit and if approved, follow the rules and see what happens.

The treasure hunter should not just discount using the legal system because public opinion says he'll never be entitled to anything or that officials will take it. If indeed there is an actual treasure found that can be portrayed to the public, there will most certainly be opportunities to gain some financial reward from telling a truthful story.

One moderator made a contrast with FinderKeeper's treasure, noting that it was on State Forest land and it was "announced legally". That is true. Plaintiff's "alleged treasure" was located on State Forest land and he did contact the officials in order to explore the site. But the real story is never told in that forum. Why is it stated as fact that there was even a FinderKeeper's Treasure?

Why is FK portrayed as some law-abiding saint who is the poster-boy for getting screwed by the government?

FindersKeeper's did not abide by the rules while on state land and was deceptive and abusing the privileges granted. This is why he was removed from the site and his activities suspended. There was never any confirmation or proof of criminal misconduct on the part of state employees trying to "take" an alleged treasure. We now know this was a part of the investigation by the FBI and the case was closed without any announcement of criminal charges.

..... Why is it stated as fact that there was even a FinderKeeper's Treasure?.....

Because you have to remember how they define the past tense word "Found" :

"Found" is defined as having narrowed down a fabulous treasure to a "certain cave" or "certain swamp" or "certain valley", etc... Now all it takes is specialized tech gear to hone down the "exact spot". And heavy equipment to dig to insane depths. And to overcome government red tape hurdles.

But rest assured, you have "found" (past tense) , a fabulous treasure. You don't even need to see one red cent of it. It's already "found" (past tense). Pesky hurdles not withstanding.

Now does that answer your question ?

Saw that thread and I think the OP is another FK in the making. Thread is now locked over there.

Wow, you know that is why I didn't bother to respond over there. They are so quick to jump on folks for making "political" comments but yet some moderator's themselves are free to spew their own opinions and innuendo with no regard. Just don't dare offer a different opinion or challenge what you are reading.

Skeptics and critical thinking not allowed. Magic wands and ghost stories can not be 'dissed.

The hypocrisy is deafening. They literally let Plaintiff do exactly the same thing for nearly a decade: peddle his fantasy and attempts to get his "story" on books, papers, youtube and TV, yet they shut this guy down immediately. They have no business being mods if they can't moderate neutrally.

I feel I need to comment about this.

Some of the moderators and regular members on TNet are also members here.
I know we at FMDF do not appreciate getting bashed on other forums so we should not be doing it in this thread.

It is their forum to run as they choose just as we have that right.

Please keep your comments to the subject of Dent's Run and the hypocrisy many of see in that subject.

Fair enough Ron. I agree this thread should not get side-tracked on the moderation of another site. Yes, they deserve to enforce their rules as they see fit. Just as FK has the right on his FB page. They do a great job over there on that treasure forum for the most part. My apologies and respect to you and the mods over there.

My comments were borne more out of frustration for the continued buoyancy of FK’s accusations and general discord for authority when treasure is suspected to be on government owned land. When pursuing suspected treasure on government lands, FK's version of Dents Run should not be used as the standard as his stories had no basis of truth before or after the investigation. Plaintiff’s actions have set a bad precedent and there is no telling what long-lasting, negative effects there may be for future treasure hunters or those in the position of authority who might ultimately determine whether a treasure story becomes a reality.

No problem! I agree 100% with what you posted above!

The mods there asked me to leave due to calling oak island, “hoax island” after they themselves posted many negative comments about the island.

With that said I’ll keep my comments here focused on the hoax of dents run. 😎

Someone correct me if I am wrong but wasn't there a previous thread on the Dent's gold issue, and if so was it deleted?

Reason is I THOUGHT I had posted in it but do not see my posts anymore in my 'activity'.

Maybe you are thinking of the Oak Island thread? Or maybe you posted on the other forum's Dent Run thread??

Yeah, I see the similarities, both the Dents Run Legend and Raiders of the Lost Ark are fabricated pieces of fiction.

Alas, Irony is not dead...

The original Raiders of the Lost Ark was an all time classic ! And ironically, in that goofy made up Hollywood movie you can see all the hallmarks of most treasure legends in it : Booby traps, govt. conspiracies, cryptogram cypher clues, insane values, spooks and mystical stuff , magic wands, etc....

Kind of reminds you of Dents Run, eh ? D.R. had the spooks/mystical (Dennis's initial visit to the psychic), the govt. conspiracies (the FBI), the conspiracies (the Civil war nonsense), the insane values, the booby traps (skeletons inside, etc...), magic wands (dowsing), etc...

So it almost makes you wonder if Dennis didn't watch one-too-many reruns of Raiders. And a few too many reruns of The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly. Because it's as if the entire script of D.R. could be taken from those 2 movies.
