The last delivery of the night turned out to be one worth sticking around for... I delivered to a house that I haven't been to in about 3 years. I knew it was old but I couldn't remember what it looked like or how old. I pulled down the long lane to their house and my eyes got really wide.... WOW! It is a 4 story brick house that shows its age. I told the owner that the I thought their house was amazing and I asked if she knew how old it is? She told me that it is coming up on 200 years old and that it is one of the oldest in our area. I suppose she must be right considering Ohio has only been a state for 205 years and our town just had its bicentennial. The folks that had built it must have had some money to put into such a large house and be able to fire their own bricks for the house. She asked if I wanted to see the inside...Sure! She showed me that there are 3 trap door hidden rooms that extend from the house into the hillside behind the house. Coool! She said that the house was used during the underground railroad days and they would hide people in the rooms. She pointed to the one area of the property where she said the carriage house once sat...Usually the carriage house was also the servants quarters too... So, she said I should come see the place when they are done remodeling... I told her that I am a student teacher that will focus on History and that I metal detect as a hobby... I asked her if she'd mind if I'd MD their yard... Sure...Go ahead!.... JACKPOT!!! I told her my name was Brian and that I had her phone number and I'd be getting in touch with her to find a convenient time to hunt the property... I was on cloud nine and I didn't even realize I also got a $5 tip out of the deal! Man, do I love deliveries like that one! I think I'm going to try to hunt the house on Tuesday if I have the day off.

Oh, mayn!

That's one sweet place to hunt. we watched a history show about a house of secrets. The current owners didn't know what they had until they started remodeling. the things they found in hidden rooms caused them to inquire. They discovered it was used in the underground railroad. Can't remmeber where it was, though.

There's stuff in ever nook and cranny of that house.

Best of luck to you, Beef!!

Yeah... If I had a tail....it'd be wagging! lol

HA! I think it'd be whipping the vases off the shelves!

Congrats to you, for sure. I've come across a few houses like that while delivering but never one utilized for the Underground Railroad ~ just some very early, or even first, houses in a community. Primo spots, for sure.

Keep us posted on how you do!

Sounds great...

Now that's a good message for sure. Take some nice flowers for the lady.

Good Luck on your hunt and take some pictures, please.

WTG Brian!! Will be looking forward to see how it turns out. Great "TIP" for a pizza delivery!!:D:yes::shock:

Incredible... what a great opportunity. Not only to MD the grounds... but if you had a wall detector (Garrett makes one), the inside could hold treasure as well.... keep us posted... RickO

When I get to hunt the place I will definately take some pics... I'd snap some now, but their hous isn't one you can just drive past... It sits on at the end of a really long lane.

Better wait a week or two. I do that when I buy a lotto ticket so I can dream of what to do with all my riches. I put it in my wallet and don't check it. The two weeks of being at work thinking "I am rich, I only work because I want to" is worth the wasted $5 for the ticket! Then when I am ready to quit I check the ticket and go back to work. That house sounds like a goldmine!!! Hope it works out!!!

I tried to call the given number today and had no luck... I have some running around to do tomorrow and then I might swing by and ask if I can hunt it tomorrow... We'll see what happens.

You silver tounge devil you.

I see how you sweet talk them ladies.

Nice job on the invite.

Here's hoping it works out great.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog
