Slow day, but still found some silver.

I was able to get back out into the recently harvested soybean field where I found the IH a few days ago. Walked about 5 feet, got my first signal, and flipped a 1924 Merc out of the ground. I thought to myself: "Awesome, I'm gonna have a great day!" Well, turns out I had a pretty slow day, finding only an old caster wheel and a Ponds lipstick holder (from the 30s-40s, I believe) for the remainder of my sweeping out in the field. Headed to the grassy area and found the 44 Wheat while walking back to my car. Still, I'm not gonna complain...it's always a good day when ya head home with silver in your pocket.

Congrats on the Merc and wheatie. Funny how the days hunt can go slow until you are headed back to your vehicle. Well done.

I agree 100%. Last fall, my wife and I walked around a good size lake. I was looking for an old cabin site that I was told about. The path was narrow, rocky and hard packed, but I swung my detector anyway, just looking for any nice signals. I got a penny/dime hit at about three inches. I worked my trowel through the rocks and out popped a nice Merc. I told my wife "that just made my day". Didn't find much of anything else due to not being able to dig through the rocks. Still a good day!

Grats on the silver! I found a Colgate Lipstick Case myself just a few days ago; you could still see some of the red/pink color on the side where the metal had gotten crushed/lapped over. Any day that I don't find anything but trash is a good day for me!
