Nothing! A bunch of trash!!!

I went to this old house down the road from where I live. The main house was built in the 1920's, but the kitchen that sticks out the back is a cabin. There used to be another cabin, but it was torn down before the house was built. An old man(c. 95yo) who's family built the house said that when they tore down the other cabin, gold coins fell out of the chinking between the logs. I figured it would be a good place to hunt. Not today. It was very dry and I could not get a hit more than 4" deep. I guess I need to wait for a rain or 2. HH!

I heard in the old days they stuck coins in the cracks around the door for good luck. There could be some in the area that spilled when they torn the original cabin down.

I sure would follow up on the area after agood rain. Just the age would make it a good prospect, & all you need is one overlooked gold coin to make your year ! steve in so az

I'm with steve on this one. I have found that even though you don't find much on the first few hunts at a new location you are usually suprised with a good find after clearing out all the trash. If there is a possibility of a gold coin I would clean it out good and hope for some rain to get down deeper. Good Luck and keep us posted.

Yes I would go back!
Let me tell you about an old house I did.
The "farm" was built in the late 1800's. It burned down about 10 years ago and they pushed everything into the cellar hole then capped it with dirt. It is now a hay field.I have hunted this probably 10 times. I found wheats,IH and A LOT of junk!!!! Tin foil, copper pipes and other metals.
I haven't hunted it this year until the summer when they cut the hay real low.
I found an colonial copper and my first walking liberty half. (1928).
If I had just used the junk I found I would have passed on this site...its good I didn't.
