My first ring was iron junk. This would be what?

Rang in the silver and copper range.

If it rang up in copper range, I hate to say it , but .... it's going to be plated costume jewelry junk :(

Even junk rings give you a thrill when then first come out of the ground. Gets the heart a pumping overtime for a short while. In sales they say it takes so many no's to get a yes. When you detect it so many junk rings to find that one good one.

Although not real still a cool find. I'll bet it got you heart going for while. Looks like a cool token. How about a pic. HH Mark

Yeah, I figured it was costume jewelry, but it sure got me excited. I found it early today and have been mostly detecting the rest of the day. I just got back with an antique butter knife found pretty deep. It is plated, but not much plating left. Also found some kind of cheap looking pendant with a H on it and a hole for maybe a necklace. Will try to get a picture of all of today's finds.

Token, pendant? and old butter knife

Here it is.

2009 so not very old. Maybe it's still valid for something!

Yup. The dead give-away that it's a junk ring is the fact the "stones" are glued in. You'll never find that in decent jewelry.

That and the corrosion everywhere. What you're holding is a kids costume ring. Easily obtained at a $0.50 vending machine, or at the checkout stand for $1 at any number of places. Looks great on a kids finger, and they don't care so much that it's not real.

And as a bonus, parent's don't care that they get lost...

Sometimes those rings will come out of the ground, looking pretty good, fooling you for a split second!

I find well over 120 junk rings like that every year (consistently). I hunt parks and schools and it's a rare day that I don't find at least one a hunt.

Cheers,

Skippy
