My favorite find so far is probably my first silver coin after 5 years of detecting, a 1963-D silver Rosie.

Good recovery! This is the kind of item that would look nice displayed in a shadow box along with other favorite finds.

Yep, silver & gold come out looking pretty good usually. The only gold I've found is just a plated ring, but even that came out relatively shiny and not oxidized/corroded.


Metals like copper & nickel usually will tarnish quite a bit though, and modern zinc pennies (1982-current) pretty much start disintigrating into the ground when burried.

Wheats are always fun to find! My first wheat was my favorite find for a few years until I found a silver coin. Still always like digging a wheat. They're also a good indicator of the time period coins were dropped in an area.
