I hunted on Sunday with my best find being a nice pair of Ray-Bans and a silver earring. I did not plan on going the following day (Monday) as I’m trying to keep my left elbow from straining, so I went to my office at school yesterday. I still have personal items to clear out and wanted to follow up on some maintenance items that were pending. I had planned on going out today. My dilemma was do I hunt later in the afternoon, for the 6:30 low tide and brave the brutal heat, or do I go before sunrise and hunt just past the 6:12 low tide? Well I chose going early with NuBlu for a 4-hour hunt. I got to the beach before 6am and first light. It was a very slow target day as I hunted the deeper water. 45 minutes into the hunt I got my 1st coin – a dime. At the 1:15 mark came the silver chain and religious pendant. I now thought that my day wasn’t going to be a total bust after all.

At around the 2:15 point came a mixed signal. After 1-2 scoops I look in and see :dingding: . I knew again by the weight for its small size that Cartier was going to be real. I also saw some writing on the inside. :good: There was still a high tone so I kept digging. After tons of scoops I finally gave up. I again surmised that this must’ve been an old anchor/marker for the jet-ski rental that was about 20’ off-line from its current lane. What is unbelievable about this ring is that it was within 25-30’ of the last small Cartier Love ring that I found on June 9th under a similar set of circumstances for the signal – a mixed mid & high tone. Fifteen minutes later I made the turn to head back and start working closer to shore. 15 minutes later I got another good signal. I look in the scoop and see a small mound of :dingding:. I knew that it was going to be good as well! My hunt had just gone from great to unbelievable! There were some beachgoers near me so I waited until about 20 minutes later when I would take the chain out and see that it was really 2 chains! :clapping: I was able to make out some writing on the gold chain so that was :good:. I knew if that one was good the Rosary would be as well.

As I got to the 3:30 point into the hunt, I was already back to my starting point due to the lack of targets on this hunt. I decided to go south for another 15 minutes and then do the 15 minutes heading back so that I would hit my 4-hour goal. It’s on the return, when I was hugging the shoreline, that I got a high tone. I look in the scoop and see something silvery that I plucked out and that’s when I was totally shocked at getting my 1st American silver dollar! I could not believe the awesome condition it was in. It’s almost as if someone took an uncirculated coin and threw it in the ocean. I could not believe what a totally unbelievable hunt I had today with such an unassuming start and off tides. But that’s just how this hobby can go. Even though I have had more valuable hunts what makes this one special was the 2 gold chains, a Cartier and a silver dollar coin 1st for me!

Looks like you're going to make more money in retirement than when you worked. That 18k chain..... :yikes: What a day. You obviously have much wealthier tourists than I have on my beaches.

May there be many more days for you like this one Felix. Good job....oh wait.....I mean good hunt.

WTG Felix! That dollar must have been someone's amulet (good luck charm).
Rudy, that's a pretty big good luck charm. It's like a few years ago when I found a Mexican silver bullion coin offshore - strange. We all wonder I'm sure of how things end up in our scoops.
Killed it… to think I was going out today and set alarm for 5pm not am nice haul ….
You know what they say about the early bird...
I actually saw another hunter about 500 yards north of me at one point working the area the chains and Cartier were in. By the time I got to that area he had moved further north. When I started heading back I noticed that he had returned to the area again. I wonder if he knew something I didn't.
Nice chains and rings that dollar coin must of been a big surprise . Your right looks like new
I was much more surprised by that than by any of the golds today.
Sorry for your poor elbow, you'll stain it with that kind of loot! Quit your day job!!! Congrats on a monster haul my friend.

I did quit my day job! I have had surgery on my left hand for trigger finger(s). I still have trigger finger in my middle finger on my right hand but surgery on my dominant hand is not going to happen. I have also gone through physical therapy on my left shoulder. All of these are due to metal detecting so I'm trying to to prevent more issues.
Nice Felix... what jewelry store you shoplift in?
"Harry Winston" Craig, only the best for me! ;)

That's the problem I wasn't ready for. You have all this time , in relatively good shape and go hunting all the time. Then you start noticing parts of your body breaking down. It sucks. Good luck , rehab on the shoulder/fingers and whatever else. Rare silver dollar is cool. Also plenty of gold , congrats. Some hunters run away as you get close , then retreat back as you move away. Very anti-social and weird. I'm very reluctant to post a recent find and take away your thunder. It would blow this forum up and could bring unwanted attention. Good going Felix.
