These Barber halves arrived in the Royal Mailbox today….8 of them and all over 100 years of age.

They received a Royal Welcome and were taken to the Royal Courtyard where they were treated to finger sandwiches and some spiked punch. Being so old they needed a bit of alcoholic beverage to take the edge off the pains of a long hard journey! Before discussing with them their journey, KT encouraged them to enter the Royal Baths and relax for awhile, before coming back to the Courtyard!

When they returned, they looked much refreshed and were ready to tell their life stories. One of them was old enough to have fought in WWI and very brave he was in the trenches in France. They had all lived through that terrible time of the Great Depression where if a man earned one of them a day, he was lucky to have work! They were all a bit old to serve in WWII, but still did what they could for the war effort. Most of these Barbers were retired with the advent of Ben Franklin in the currency to replace them, but some served on as advisors and reminders of days past.

KT asked if they had any particular interests and discovered, much to his surprise, several musicians in the group, with the rest being of diverse backgrounds. The musicians were asked if they would like to play in the Royal Ensemble that KT is putting together, and they said if there were spare instruments, they would enjoy that! KT called the Musical Headmaster and he took them with him to accommodate their needs. The remaining Barbers were excited to take a tour around the Castle and to simply relax later in the Royal Courtyard. KT ordered several tables be made available with dominos, various card games, and even puzzles set out for these gentlefolks to amuse themselves until supper. KT requested that several Walker handmaidens set aside a couple of rooms for sleeping quarters for these folks, and make sure there was sufficient clean hand towels and bath towels in the Royal Baths for them.

With the musicians, they made their way to the Royal Photographer for a group photo for KT’s Royal Scrapbook, before returning to the Courtyard for games later in the afternoon.

Enjoy the photo!
