My wife wanted to take the Rubicon off road, and get her dirty. So we headed out across some farmland and onto a forest logging road that I had never been on before. After 10 minutes we came across an old ruined barn and home - probably abandoned in the 1970's by the look of it - and certainly a place to investigate further. But after another 15 minutes we came across some open fields that were completely surrounded by forested hills. A small creek was nearby, so we stopped to check the area. There wasn't a house for miles.

After an hour the sun was setting, and we had to find our want back to civilization before dark so we left. However, not before walking way with some nice finds.

Definitely Roman, such as the coins and fibula - but one or two of the other objects may be only medieval. Next week we'll be back to spend the whole day!
It's so nice when the only TRASH you find is around 1,000 years old. I can figure out the Roman coins soon enough, but my best guess on the other objects clockwise from the upper left are a spur, Roman belt fitting, Roman knee fibula, horse fittings and the small woman's ring.

The boot spur is earlier than the 12th century, and is very consistent with a Celtic or Roman Calvary Spur. The key is the boot attachment knob, and the shape of the.

I'll post more as I get them cleaned up and Identified.
