Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum and thought I'd introduce myself. I got into metal detecting when I was only 10 when a friend of my dad's brought his detector over to show us how it worked. We walked over to an old cellar hole and started scanning the ground. I carried the shovel and helped my dad's friend dig whenever there was a signal he liked. We uncovered mostly trash with a horseshoe and a few old nails but I was hooked.

Eighteen years later I'm still hooked. I love browsing the web, pouring over old maps and scouring for information that might lead me to the next hot spot. I have hunted with several different machines and am currently swinging a Minelab CTX-3030. I absolutely love it. I'm slightly bummed that there aren't any clubs close by and would have to drive 2 1/2 hours to visit one. I am considering this as an option but...

I am new to Rennville county but have already dug up a few leads to some potentially exciting locations. I have permission to dig a farmer's field where an old school house once stood. My dad has a church from the late 19'th century and I have had good success finding old coins, buttons and a couple of rings at this location. I will try and post some pictures soon. The rings weren't super valuable but one did have a couple of rubies in it and looked old. I'll definitely post that picture soon.

If anyone lives in southwest Minnesota and would like to hook up let me know. Obviously winter has it's icy grip on Minnesota right now but I'm using the time to hit the books and historical maps of the area.

Well Howdy Neighbor! I am just north of you in Kandiyohi county just north of Willmar. Haven't gotten in a lot of detecting in the last two years as I had tendonitis in my swinging arm two years ago then this year I got cancer and am now recovering from surgery. However I look forward to hitting the ground swinging this spring! Maybe we could hit a few spots together? I use an etrac and have found some nice old coins in some local hotspots.
