Got an e-mail from Minelab this morning about a new pinpointer. The Pro-find 40. Said they were ready to ship but didn't say how much. Also said they are keeping the Pro-find 35 and 15 but dumping the 20. I'll pass till I see some reports.

I was dumb enough to watch the video . Just show me what it can do without the annoying music gees the same can be said for you tube videos the blaring blasting music at the start . I didn't click on it for your intro blaring blasting music . sube

I saw a video on utube yesterday from Minelab. Not enough changes for me to buy one. I cracked the rubber on the on/off switch on my pro-find 20 within a year after I got it which looks to be the same design only in red rubber now. I read somewhere it is $139.

As soon as someone gets a "hands on" it would be nice to find out if it is just another "up the shaft" or the desired "tip only. The sensitivity is near the TRX's so it may very well become a KEEPER.:bling:

Seems to me the pinpointer market has been tapped some time ago, and some manufactures know a certain % of folks are going to buy just with their name and new model # slapped on it

I'm going to have see a lot of praise before I run out and buy one. My Garrett's are still getting the job done. One is 6 years old. The other at least 4. I don't feel that a pinpointer with only one tone has held me back or slowed me down that much, but I've yet to try a Minelab pinpointer.

Trust me when I say, you are not missing a thing not having a minicab pin pointer. It's just too bad they didn't put the effort into their pin pointers as they have their detectors.

+1, let's hope this new handheld will be much better. I could not stand the old Minelab pointers. I did notice they took a shot at Garrett, "red is the new orange"

All I have ever had was Garretts, can't see how anybody can improve on them ? I do like to hear opinions on other brands, if something is out there "better" I want to know, lol :rofl2: :clapping: :clapping:
too_

Personally, I prefer up the shaft to tip only pinpointing. I have two Garrett Carrots that I got a deal on a few years ago and I'm still on the first one. A lesson I learned in the early days of the original Garrett black was not to push the pointer into the dirt and distort the small windings. When I quit doing that my pinpointers have held up without fail. Fortunately for me, despite my stupidity, Garrett was always great about replacing the Pro-Pointers under warranty.

I do like the concept of being able to tell ferrous from non-ferrous with this new unit, wondering how well it works in actual usage?

Never had one in thirty-odd years. The extra few seconds of groping about the soil just builds up the anticipation to my mind.

Downside of that is you increase your risk of damaging a potentially valuable coin, ask me how I know ,,, Unlike a 1st [or 2nd] date, less groping the better.

F-Pulse for one, is an improvement. Deeper detection plus mine has never lost any of the original depth, Every one of my Garretts pointers degraded in depth, and I have owned all of the Garretts pointers. I imagine that the TEK-Point is the same.

Yup 139 MSRP, and they are already in stock at some retailers. I'll hold off until I see some reviews from trusted sources. I already have a 5+ year old carrot and a brand new one on standby, so I'll be okay for awhile anyway. If anyone here takes the plunge, please let us know your thoughts on this pinpointer.

I was told 139 US dollars Myers metal detectors will have them Friday 7/28
To be honest, I got the Pro-Find 35 for Christmas the year they came out. After some initial testing I didn't care for it. Still in the box. The ergonomics or performance. The Pro-Find 40 other than the color looks to be a rebranded 35. Still uses 9 v batteries. Better this, more of that, really ? We'll see. With so many great rechargeable pinpointers on the market to me doesn't seem like a very wise move. But thats just me. Good luck. Mark
