Hi everyone,
Pretty new to metal detecting but having some fun with it. I go out mostly with my son who is better at it than I am. Using the Spetra V3i, seems there is a lot to learn with it but I am getting better. Have only hit the parks so far and finding a lot of change but only one silver which was an 1929 standing liberty quarter. Hoping to find more places to search.

WELCOME FROM NC !! and yes. this hobby is lots of fun.. you never know what you are going to dig up next!!

Nice! I went to college in Walla Walla (early 90s). Some of the houses in the old part of town were HUGE with giant trees and pretty nice, old-looking yards. Thinking about it now -- I'm sure there are a lot of treasures hidden in that town! Researching where to look will be part of the fun. Best of luck to you!

been there a few times. had to drive over the snowed pass. man...you are way out there!! HH though

WA state history - glad it's a thin book.

You would be talking about the houses on Palouse St. Yes, they are some of the first houses in the area and they are still grand. I'd love to get in some of those yards.

Palouse. That's right. I'd forgotten the names. Boy, that seems a long time ago! I wonder what the "back side" of College Place would be like for detecting? I remember going birding around Blalock Ponds near there and noticing some of those places looked as old as the hills back in the early 90s. And of course the history of Whitman Mission would suggest there ARE old coins somewhere in the valley. (Assuming Whitman is off limits). But any "smaller" town like Walla Walla with multiple colleges (Whitman, Walla Walla CC, Walla Walla U) should produce a ton of clad in the parks, I would assume. Then there are the (then) really small towns like Dixie not to far away that still have quite a history... Depending on how many other MDers there are in the area, you should have a blast. I hope you post your reports. I'll be watching and waiting. If we didn't move to Alaska, my wife and I both loved Walla Walla and the Blue Mountain area -- that's where we planned to move back to at some point. But Alaska is too exciting, now!

Hey there, I am new to the hobby and looking for some fellow MDers to meet up with. If you're still in the area let me know and maybe we can meet up sometime.

Happy Hunting!
