I’ve been hunting a field directly across from my house. 30 minutes here, 45 minutes there.
Couple of homes around edge of field dating back to at least 1914.
In past couple of weeks I’ve found an ox shoe, 1916Barber, 1917 Merc, small change purse and lots of odds and ends. Roaming fields hoping to run across and iron patch or just lucking up on an object is much more enjoyable than I thought.
Today in 40 minutes I found an 1881 indianhead penny in terrific condition and an aluminum rivet like object with a name and the name of where I live.
Any thoughts on what rivet thing may be?

Try looking online for old plat maps for your county or township. They are an excellent resource for finding farm fields where there once was a house.
Then all you need to do is find out who owns it now and get permission to hunt it. :waytogo:
