Need Advice

We obviously don't have oceans around here, but do have a lot of sandy man made beaches around a lot of our lakes. I read about scoops and such, but really don't have a clue what to dig with and "sift?" finds with. I'm a beginner so any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I want to try a couple of local 'beaches" soon. Thanks ahead, A link to a picture would be cool also.

Well you won't have much sand at lake beaches and are more likely to find stuff in the ground where people sit/lay. Don't blow your money on a regular scoop, just pick up a plastic grain scoop from a local farm or hardware store, drill some holes in it and whaaalaaaa.

My dad kind of instilled "cost saving" thinking into me. I had 6 bother/sisters and we didn't have much money for extravagance growing up.
