Just reading about the old places, etc made me think of Marion, Illinois. My wife has 2 sisters that live down there and I just remembered that several years ago, I think it was in the early 1980's, there was one heck of a Tornado that roared through there and just tore the dog-poop out of everything. We went down there ( we were still living in Lincoln, Illinois at the time) and visited them right after the storm. It did an unbelievable amount of damage to everything.

Particularly, I remember the business district along Rt 13 , East of I-57 was just flattened. My recollection is that there was at least one Jewelry store that was just destroyed and everything in it was ''blown away''.

Now, if I were down there, and fer sure when I go back there to visit, I would and will be doing some serious sweeping. By then I will have a new unit.

The storm traveled, as usual, from West to East so that might give some ideas of where to look. I'm sure that some good research could help even more. All I ask is that you split whatever you find with me 50/50--yeh right!!!

and the area East of the jewelry store is now under concrete. There were people out in the field later after the Tornado. Ins people perhaps, I dont know. I now live in Huntington, WV and have permission to search the area where the Marshall Football team plane crashed. But would feel ghoulish doing so. Back to Marion, The date was May 29, 1982, should anyone want to research it. HH
