Lost civil war treasure / FBI recovery ?

New article on ....

David, .... no .... this is not "new". It's the same old regurgitated story. The same "what if", and "conspiracy theory" nonsense. And the same old story: Not a single red cent surfaces.

I see no "scientific basis" there. Do you ? If I'm missing something, and there's a scientific basis there to substantiate a "treasure", then .... please.... I'm all ears. Please point out what I missed is the "scientific basis...."

The story keeps popping up so i figured the government conspiracy guys would like it , and then there is the fun of pushing your buttons :laughing:

while in the army a buddy told me about a Confederate Officer who buried some money when Sherman's March was coming & was killed the same day

Hummmmm, I shooed gepta friend of him huh

... who buried some money when....

If I had a dollar for every sure-fired iron-clad story like this that I've heard, I'd be rich already.

If you really want to tally up stories like this, all ya need to do is git yourself back-issues of 1960s/1970s treasure mag's. Each of them was filled with "lost mine" and "stolen stage coach" loot stories. A buddy of mine even submitted one of the stories that got published, in order to the $50 or whatever acceptance payment. All of it was fanciful musings. But hey, toss in a few faded newspaper clippings, and a drawing of a miner posed next to his burro, then .... by golly ...... it MUST be true ! We got a good laugh wondering whether anyone went out looking for any treasure.

And so too is the genesis/roots of the Dent's Run nonsense : Just campfire legend ghost-story bunk.

.....are you sure a past relative might not have left you a treasure map hidden somewhere ?
......could a past relative have hidden treasure for you to find ?:laughing::laughing:

You are cruel GKL. Much too cruel.

And sure, the treasure map is filled with secret cipher codes, right ? And when you dig, and nothing is there, it *doesn't* mean that "nothing is there". Right ? Is simply means a little deeper. Or a little more to the right. Or a little more to the left (can you spell "oak island" ?). Or if nothing is there it simply means the big bad government came and stole it during the night (can you spell dents run ?) BUT AT NO POINT is there not *certainly* a fabulous treasure there !

Just joking Tom

.......but just imagine if you found a treasure map from a past relative who had a sense of humor and after you followed all their clever directions you finally uncovered a treasure chest ! ......then opening it up you only found an old handwritten note saying good work on finding this, but did you really think I wouldn't spend the treasure back then did you ?

couldn't resist it Tom

You just had to do it, didn't you ? Couldn't resist, eh ? And the moment you add "yakuza gangsters", then .... by golly ...... it MUST BE TRUE. Eh ?

Had to add a note for those who never hear of that treasure , though it is actually a very good article that kind of covers the whole subject. There are some pretty good maps , point of view from skeptics , and even tells what percentage of any treasure found the Philippines gets for its share of any finds. :detector: :workforgold: :hornetsnest:

And believe it or not, this "percentage" law thing simply becomes ALL THE MORE PROOF of the truth-of-the-treasure. Ie.: The laws wouldn't have stated such a thing, if there weren't a treasure there, in the first place. Right ?

Is that where you got your idea of charging a percentage of finds in your area.

.......yep, if anyone should know about percentages, Tom should !

.....wonder how Tom enforces his 30% of finds fee ?

.....perhaps something like this ?
