So yesterday, I adventured out to an out of the way school with attached sport fields. Right from the get-go, I heard the sound of beep music to my ears. I was in the blazing hot sun with the heat index over 100 degrees, I found 187 coins including 77 quarters and 60 dimes or just about $25.00 worth of coinage all within five hours. The cool refreshing factor of the day was the 1956 silver quarter. That one silver coin certainly brought cool relief from digging in dry hard dirt.

It felt good hit that many coins especailly with the quarters in one outing as it will nicely add to filling up another 5 gallon bucket of quarters I'm working on. Its been a while since I discovered such a prosperous public location. Now all I have to do is find my next honey hole.

This gives me silver #10 fty.

Thanks again for checking out my latest thread!

Absolutely well done. Good that you can handle that heat. This old dog can't, and it has been close to 90 every day for the past two weeks. I'll head out once the geriatric melting point goes down a tad :coolinoff::rofl2:
Thanks hoser not only for today but in your past comments too! I will say, when I'm finding coin after coin after coin, I don't feel the heat as much. ;) But I will say, as an old dog myself, I was sem-prepared for the heat with plenty of water, in otherwards, I could have drank more too. And what I really enjoy about his wonderful hobby is the exercise it gives me.

Holy moly... I got $8 in two hours this morning and thought I was killing it  . And all I got besides the clad was one wheatie. You got a silver quarter! Good show!

Thanks Dave! Sometimes it not about the amount of coins we find but the fun of it all. However, congrats to you too on your $8.00 haul for two hours of digging, probably you may have exceed my numbers if you stayed a bit longer! Again, much appreciated your kind comments! John

I'm always happy finding a silver quarter! Congrats!
That's an epic clad count to boot!:dingding:
Thanks metaladdict! I'm with you about finding a silver quarter or even any silver. It's amazing the things we do when a silver coin is found everything from taking a photo of it to writing a novel about it. But one thing for sure it's a nice adrenaline rush. Thanks again for checking things out! John

I hear you about hunting in the heat! I just won't do it. I'd just as soon get up early and go out in the morning. Congratulations on the haul. I know what it's like to dig that many coins, great job and keep swinging.

Thanks Mark in Michigan! For me sometimes the heat creates better opportunities as it keeps more of the undesirable looky-loos away in the more populous type of areas. A good haul of coins always makes me think that there are more of these type of locations waiting to be discovered. Best of luck to you with continue success!

...the last decade or so has been a slow burn to dead for me , and comparing just 5 ago here on friendly , it seems people aren't posting much in comparison...is it dead everywhere?
So I disagree ..a Washington is HEAVY on silver.

I haven't even thought about digging lately..it's that bad ...hope things change..
