Jewelry: Where do you usually find it, in the ground or on the surface?

I have been hunting for a few months and have found my share of coins, but only 3 rings. I hunt primarily grassland parks. One of the rings I found was in sand of a tot-lot, the other in grass sod, and the third on top of the ground. I believe that most jewelry is found at beaches, and that most rings and jewelry are found on top of the grass elsewhere. Am I right or wrong?

I have 13 so far this year. Had to dig every one. Found em in yards, playgrounds, tot lots & the beach.

So far, I've found three silver rings; the heaviest was around three inches deep, the other two were one to two inches deep. All three were taken from grass areas. On the Explorer SE, they put out a very pure high pitched tone.

I've found 4 rings this year, and they have all been near the top (1 or 2 inches). And one of them had been in the ground for quite some time. And it was less than an inch down.

so far this year I have a bunch of rings and things - 21 things are solid gold with 9 being rings. Almost all have come from tot lots sand and chipbark, dug underneath 1-4 inches. steve i nso az

I have only dug three silver rings, two of which were shallow and I had to untangle them from grass roots that had grown through them.

One was in a park, the other two were at soccer fields.

I have dug other costume rings too, but have never found any on the surface.
