Is the Manticore Power Hungry?

Guys & gals I am curious if the Manticore is a battery HOG?

I've only been out 4 times with it for a total of maybe 6-7hours of swing time on it. My battery gauge/bar was already in the red.

Does custom programs/hotter settings consume more power?

Does the bigger coils consume more power? Out of them 6-7 hours of hunting, I used the M15 coil for roughly 4 hours. I was using All Terrain General.

I'm thinking the Manticore is a power hungry Hog!

Any Manticore owners got anything to say.

Thanks.

Detector does use power.
Freq/modes used will drive amount.
Lower single freq and using All Terrain High conductor, and beach surf and seawater, additionally SCREEN Brightness level selected.
One can run external power.
I do.
You can’t submerge unit doing though.
Mount can be set up to mount battery on. Left or right side of rod. I rate this setup as TOP Notch. I do use one tie strap along with Velcro though. Still easy to move pinpointer mount to another detector if you choose.
Pick up a 5000 milliamp battery on the cheap. Buy Xp pinpointer mounting bracket for battery. Use your charge cable and you are off to the races. This battery will basically double your run time. You can use this battery to power detector in the event of dead detector battery. Will charge your detector battery while you hunt actually.
Here’s a pic of my setup. Link to sponsor here with pinpointer mount.
I have a friend up the road from me. Uses the exact same setup. He loves it.

Ok thanks. I'll look into them items. Lol I will use the battery bank as a counterweight for the M15 coil.

Thanks.

Also don’t forget. Latest Manticore update gives user shift on the fly for screen brightness via SOFT Key setup. Where targets are sparse user could run screen way low brightness wise or even turned all the way down. And when they hear a target shift screen brightness on the fly using soft key assigned. Beach hunters and open field/woods relic hunters especially will find this useful I think. And conserve some power.

How new is this latest software update?

Just curious. Thanks.

The Manticore is a battery hog for sure.

The only update was a year ago. If you've got yours new even semi recently it's on the update. Here's the link for the update if you want to check. If you have a Stabilizer setting you are on the update.

Nice setup TNNSS ! I would actually like to see a bigger ( more capacity) AND heavier battery that has a screw in attachment similar to the counter balance that Steve uses in his shafts. It would have to be behind the elbow. This would be a seller for guys swinging the 15 for any length of time.

Would be very easy to make, looks like a single 21700 5000MAh TNN is using in that battery pack. You could run four of those in a larger pod and have 4 x P = X

Yeah after a couple charges, I been averaging 7.5-8hours of use per charge. I heard ATHC is real power hungry & have yet to try that program/mode.

I haven't ran mine dry. But I've run out down to the low battery warning in a single day a few times. I do run ATHC a lot too though. It's my default go-to for turf hunting.
