If I don't display it might as well leave it buried..If I'm going to display any finds out in the open of my home for all to see , I might as well leave my front door wide open 24/7 with a sign out front saying "looky here".

Or take a picture of it , then sell or donate it to others to enjoy. If I don't display it might as well leave it buried..
That is a Good point....... I can see diplaying relics and "Maybe some" coins but when it comes to gold it's another subject. I learned a long time ago, there is a high possibility they will come if there is any knowledge "Of". And all it takes is, hear say.If I don't display it might as well leave it buried..
Exactly. I think most here don't remember we are after GOLD ! And mine doesn't stay around for long. Certainly not for display. That's what my camera is for. Or course I got silver and a bunch of old stuff laying around. IDC about that stuff. But many here are into the old relics and history. Not a big disposable fortune compared to bright obvious GOLD , for your average home invasion. And I do think many of their displays are awesome. Guys are really into some of it. We got a nice curio cabinet....filled with the wife's worthless porcelain crap. LolThat is a Good point....... Competition ? You must be one of those guys who hunts 6' next to someone else. Or maybe you do those clown club hunts w/15 guys swinging in a 30' taped off circle. Buncha Circle Jerks claiming it's "fun". Plenty of those hunts on YouTube. That's a hard pass bro.....I like a little more space. And I get more excited if a buddy out hunts me on gold. As long as I get 1 out there I'm good.Ah C'mon Kob, stop being such a kill-joy MD'ing is competition sport. YOU HAVE to toot your horn and do an end zone dance, eh ?
Around here we call them ankle knockersYou must be one of those guys who hunts 6' next to someone else.
That's a great idea Tom. For me I would have enough things to fill one drawer, and a whole lot of photos of the things I want to find to fill the rest of the drawers.I use stackable blueprint cabinet drawers.

Wow is the stuff invisible? Oh, I think I know you have a cloaking device.Very few people ever see what I find.
Probably a great idea , but it's a little late for me. Hindsight is so easy. There's a old guy out here , Stan Ross. A great hunter , we've butted heads a few times on the beach and I've also learned alot from the few conversations I've had with him. He's a private person I think and only posts on his RF page. Been around since I can remember. He told me long ago...don't post any pics. If I'd only listened.....Very few people ever see what I find.
..... He told me long ago...don't post any pics......
Maybe so. Not my close friend for sure. But I do know he lurks here. Probably because I called him out on 1 of his stunts and he didn't like it. But in all my years , I've never seen him hunt with anyone on a beach. A few years ago I'm on a beach about 1.5 hours away. And who do I see ? Yup. And the majority of the 8 hours I was there he was not far off. He would turn and walk away when I tried to get close and talk. I always try to be nice and chit chat a few. 6 months later I see him and I say ; if I knew you were going to that beach we could have car pooled. He said he likes to hunt alone....ok whatever.I've run into persons like that, who claim to be an island. Eg.: Claim to never compare, never show their trophies, don't join clubs, have no friends, etc... But I always notice that they "give away their hand of cards", if you watch them for long enough. They will invariably hunt with *at least one* friend. Or stay in touch with *at least one friend*. And you can BET that if they find a gold coin, they're going to let their buddy know.
OH SURE, they might not have a WIDE circle of friends. They may not be on social media (forums, facebook, clubs with show & tell tables, etc....). SURE ! But make no mistake : They're not an island. They will invariably have a friend or two that they do in fact compare notes with. Sorry but : No one is an island.
...... Not my close friend for sure. ....
Good lord. Is there any hope for you ?Kob, read your sentence there ^ ^ closely. Read it s-l-o-w-l-y. Do you spot the self-defeating nature of it ? Our current topic is : Are persons (md'ing in this case, show & tell in this case) : "Islands". ie.: who find stuff and no one ever knows. They have no friends, no one ever knows what they find, and so forth. Eh ? You say those persons do exist. But then notice that (drum roll) THIS GUY IS YOUR (and I quote) " CLOSE FRIEND " !
