Horse tack or ????

We had a very warm January, for this area at least, and I got out 4 times during the month! Very unusual.

I was in the woods searching for a home site when I found this. I think it is brass, and rang up 28-29 on the Nox 800. My guess is horse tack, but I know nothing about horses and equipment. I would like to learn the proper name. It does look like it has some age to it.

Oh boy! Is that ever a rabbit hole to head into!!! What a resource!! I love all the rosettes - there are 7 pages worth! Anything horse related is in that catalog. Very cool!
