Metal detecting is something I always wanted to try. And due to someone else getting into it on another forum, the itch came back and I pulled the trigger and ordered myself a kit over the weekend. Should be here tomorrow.

Looking forward to posting up some stuff.

I'm still trying to get the hang of it. So much so that Garrett is sending me another coil to try. They said something does not seem right and sounded concerned that the coil was over a year old and I just bought the machine.
Yesterday I dug a lot of holes that started with a strong signal in the eighties, then the signal moved to the dirt I had pulled out, then after sifting through the dirt with my fingers the signal just disappeared.
They told me to do a factory reset, but also said they would get the new coil out for me to try. I'll see today if the factory reset did anything. It must be like a reboot on a computer.
