Hi everyone. My name is Ruby and I'm a total noob. I always wanted to MD. So I did some research, settled on a detector (f75). I have been watching all the youtube vids trying to get up to speed. There is a bit of a learning curve here and i'm not the sharpest knife in the draw. But I learn fairly quick. I'm in Los Angeles and there aren't too many places to detect that haven't already been picked through millions of times. I decided the old zoo would be a good place for me to get familiar with my new hobby. I think i'm getting the hang of it. I went for 2 hours on my first day. I used a bottle cap discrimination mode and got right to it. I'm posting a pick of day 1 and day 2 finds below. I found a lot of iron, nails, screws, wire. Also bottle caps and pull tabs. I did find some pennies, dimes and a token. On day 2 (3 hours) I found more iron junk but also quarters, dimes, pennies, a bullet, and a dogs I.D. I look forward to going to the beaches soon as well. I need to find a sand scoop though. Anyway, thanks for having me as a new member in your forums. And please if anyone has any advice or tips or is familiar with the f75 let me know. Thanks again!

Also I wanted to add some observations.

1. it's allot of work
2. It's dirty
3. I have a surgically repaired shoulder labrum It's kind of hard on my shoulder.
4. My hand hurts from digging
5. I absolutely love it!

Welcome to the hobby! Glad to see someone else having fun and finding as much garbage as I do ;) When someone asks me if I am trying to find treasure, I just reply that I'm doing my bit by cleaning the garbage out of the parks / beaches... they tend to leave you alone after that lol.

Digging trash is what we do. Especially until we learn what the machine is telling us and we still dig trash mixed in with some real good stuff. Welcome to the Hobby and the forum. Lots of good folks on here that will answer questions.

Nice first couple of days finds. It is an addicting hobby.

Welcome from Nevada! I would get a Lesche digger and a quality pin pointer if you haven’t already. The Lesche is miles ahead of the Garrett digger. A pinpointer saves time!

Welcome to the addiction....... I used an f75 for many years.....the absolute best forum for Fisher F75 help/info is findmall.com. This forum is best for everything else...like sharing finds and interacting with other members.

if you are a 'quick study" as you say, you should have no problems!

Hi Ruby! Welcome to the forum. It looks like you found all the good stuff so nice job on the finds. Your finds look a lot like one of my days out on our SoCal beaches. Lol!
Best of luck to you.

Morning Ruby. Looking at your finds, you're off to a typical start. As mentioned, it is about location. A harness is a good suggestion. If you're sore from digging, my guess is you're using a hand digger, get a small shovel, like a sampson. Makes pulling a plug much easier.
You didn't mention where you're located. You should do that, helps people help you.
welcome aboard.
