Am I the only person who loves this hobby so much , but still questioning if it's even worth doing any longer?
So far I can't come up with anything that would interests me, that I can point my attention to..but in the last say 10 15 yrs diggin has evolved into mostly a waste of time ..yes I like to put the phones on and zone out but why not just do that in my yard, and take the chance of finding something cool off the table ..
My brother and others have asked about it and I'm truthful , I tell them it's mostly waste of time now..the charge ya get from finding a 200 yr old coin or relic just doesn't come by often enough anymore , he'll I haven't dug a flat button in god knows how long..
I'm not a huge beach guy , I'm not cheap or greedy and have gold fever ..I'm quite the opposite..I'd rather dig a decent connecticut copper BY FAR than a 14k ring....
I Know in my county(even surrounding) , if you think your gonna find a cellar hole and find ANYTHING ..you can FORGET IT ! (besides holes left by 200 others)
Old park huntin??lolo we all know what that is now , 2% chance of finding something good..
is that one mercury dime every 65 hours of digging worth it? Surely getting harder for me to justify..

It stinks cuz I can't come up with anything I like more ..it's such a curse almost a burden to enjoy this hobby !

What do you guys find enjoyment in besides digging...I really need to find something to get me outta this fleeting hobby/addiction..I've had motorcycles street and dirt over the yrs ..and riding on the road is boring unless I was to take an occasional ride through the white mts. Or something...

Where do you normally hunt? I like to detect at permissions, usually old houses and farm houses. There is still decent nectar to find there and worth digging. If you are lucky enough to find one that has not been previously hunted, you will find nectar. When I run across one that has been detected before, most of the time the previous hunter only chose to dig the easy stuff-high tones. There is still nectar there, one just has to try a little harder to extract it. As far as parks go in my area, no—the old stuff is hunted out.

Some truth in what you're saying, only my third year, but ran into an old-timer yesterday in a new park I'm detecting, says he's been detecting 35 years, yup, says he used to get silver/gold regularly, says...oh well...peeps aren't walking around with silver change anymore and folks don't get out like they used to in the old times and what's been dropped is getting scarcer every day. I still do public spaces IF I don't have a permission lined up. Other hobbies, hunt/fish and caregiver to wife who has early onset dementia, not much free time here. Hang in there buddy, plenty of goodies still left out there.
