Gold Plate?

This ring looks like a junk ring but it is stamped "18KGP." I would guess this means gold plate, but then why is it silver? Any thoughts?

That's a pretty ring. I had a ring that had a thin layer of gold on it, laid over silver. The gold began peeling off way too easily. So much for KMart. Otherwise, there is white gold, right? My sister's wedding set was gold but looked like silver. Very popular in the 60's.

That's white gold. Our wedding rings are white gold.
